Same thing here. The game lags horribly for me in only those 2 zones, nowhere else. Its bad enough that I havent gone back to GF/SF since it was released...

I was experiencing this problem myself on one of the computers I play on. I only noticed this after I installed the free DirectSong music pack. So I somehow removed the music pack and now I don't get lag on that computer for those zones.
On the other hand, another computer that I use that had not experienced lag even with the music pack installed has recently begun experiencing lag upon entering Grenth's Footprint for the first time in a session, so there must be another issue.

GF/SF lag...
This is exactly what is happening to me as well.
As soon as I enter GF, I have about 1 second before the game freezes. After about 10-15 seconds, everything starts again.
It reoccurs periodically and gets really irritating (always in the middle of a fight, it seems!)
I'll try uninstalling the DirectSong pak later this week. I hope that's all it is.

The machine that has lag w/ direct sound, was it a Windows XP machine or another version of windows.
It may be realted to the Windows Media Player and the DRM on non-windows xp machines and was curious if this is holding true.

I'm running Win2K.
My computer:
2.8 GHz Intel P4 (#SL6PF, 533MHz bus, 512K cache)
ASUS P4T533-C motherboard.
768MB of RAMBUS PC-1066 RAM.
Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro - Atlantis
By the way, how do you un-install the Direct Song stuff?
It doesn't show up in the add/remove software in the control panel.

Here how to disable Direct Song from GuildWars
Start -> Run -> (type in) Regedit (click ok)
Find this Registery Key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DirectSong
Right click on it and choose Export (it will save/back up so you can re-enable it later)
Then once your done, delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DirectSong
Registery Key.
(Be very careful if you edit the registry)

DirectSong broken
I've contacted GW Support and received an answer that supports the DirectSong theory.
I'll put my comments in another thread that talks to this issue:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...d.php?t=108994
Just need to remove DirectSong. (I just moved the directory to break the link.)
