Unhappy Lag, possible Memory leak. (ATI)

GW onload is fine. But, every once in a while my gfx will chop up entirely. Down to 1-2fps. sux. I notice that my GFX memory is 100% full, and its swapping onto my virtual memory. That would be fine, if the Virtual memory would be flushing the unused gfx from memory, but its not.

System Stats:
AMD Athlon 2800 @ 2.5Ghz
1Gb Corsair RAM
MSI KT4AV Motherboard
ATI Radeon 9600 - AIW
2Gb swappable memory
650Gb HD in 4 drives.

Possible Memory leak? If I left it alone, Im sure a stack dump would occurr, although I have never tested that theory. And nothing has been added, modified from my computer in the past 3 months. I have the latest drivers for my card, I've tried the Catalyst and Omega drivers, using driver cleaners, and such, also re-installed DX9, to no avail. This problem just started happening, one day out of the blue (mainly, once they put the xmas patch in).

No. No hacks, exploits, trackers were found on my puter. <--IT Tech.
Been doing some random testing about this prob.

I have shut off all non-essential programs while running GW, turned gfx settings down to low, and still,, periodically it will chunk down to about 1-2fps. I can alt+tab out of the game, and tab back in, so it redraws the gfx, and its fine.

**edit
I believe I've narrowed it down to Post Process Effects. If I turn that off, the intermitent lag "seems" to stop.. But there goes all the neat little lighting effects that Anet has done to make the game look oh-so-pretty.

Is anyone else having this issue? If so, please post.

k, heres the prob. heh.
I rolled back rivers, starting with the latest, and ran tests on each.
any version above 5.4 and I would experience that lag issue. So far with 5.4 theres been no interuptions. Yeay for me.
oh wait. there was this one little disruption on my 13W/R :

Ultimate Black armor. Not to mention my toons hair is red... lol. guess thats what happens when u minimize the game while on a loading screen. heh

but ya. if anyone is having periodic lag issues on ati cards, try rolling back to previous drivers. Make sure to use a driver cleaner (http://www.drivercleaner.net/dc.htm) to remove the drivers.

Case closed, for now.

The black armor feature is pretty common, getting it on my GF6800 as well when minimizing the game in right places. Black armor, or the shiny armor, depends a bit.

And this isn't Anarchy Online, there's no memory leaks here

I have exactly the same problem with you since the updete before the weekend. I am running the Game just fine 30-60fps and at some point my fps will drop down to 7-8 for no reason. My System is PM 2.13Ghz, 1Gb Ram DDR2, X700 256MB and before that update i used to play the game with Max detail level and 1280*1024 with never less than 30fps. Some times in easy (for the graphics card) areas i also used to add 2x Antianalising. But since that crap update for the crap tournament my game performs low even on 800*600 . I tryied to unistall and install the game again, change graphics setting , reinstall drivers, unload all backround programms but still i have the same problem. All the other games perform exactly the same and i get exactly the same result from 3dmark 2003. I also tried to contact Ncsoft about this and the only answer i got was an automatic respond that we sucssefuly received your message, thank you very much for conttacting GuildWars support bla bla bla... If anyone has the same problem or has a sollution about this please contact me: [email protected] (please do not spam me).
