Default DSL modem HELP!

Hi, I got some DSL modem from Verizon when I subscribed to them but I loose my connection on games constantly (especially GW and DoD). The only problem I could think of is that they had sent me a US East modem when I am west, so they had to guide me threw how to reprogram it so it would work for me. I’m tired of loosing my connection in games constantly so can anyone post a link to a very nice 1?

Another question, I get a little lightning bolt on the top of my screen when I play GW, it usually says _ _ _K, (I’m not sure what the # before it is atm). Does this have to do with my lag?

Your modem disconections might be down to the Windows powersaving mode on the USB ports. Go into 'Device manager', right click on the 'USB controller' entry and then check the properties on each one to see if the powersaving mode is activated.

That may be the cause of it, I had a mate who experienced this so it might be worth checking it out.

Could've swore it's just Verizon. People have had problems with GW and Verizon before.

I also have Verizon / DSL and do get some disconnects but not frequently. I leave the machine running all the time and I do know it happens at least once nightly.

If you have a dual-connect modem (like mine, but I've had it 3 years, so I don't know what Verizon sends out these days...), use the Ethernet connection over the USB. Ethernet is much more reliable. I had a spell a few years back with frequent service interrupts, and it was a very annoying 2 months, but then it went away for good.
