Default Making port priority

I have lan connection and sometimes experience lag in the evening when other people on lan download something.
I've heared that it is possible to make priority to gw port.
Does anyone know how to do it?

To the best of my knowledge that depends solely on the quality of your network equipment. I've worked with Cisco Routers in the past and on those devices you can define certain services to receive a certain level of Quality of Service. Doing so you could assign Guild Wars (ports) to be prioritized akin to voice traffic. Thus when routers see traffic on the Guild Wars ports, it will be bumped to the front of the queue.

I don't think Guild Wars itself is all the bandwidth intensive to begin with, but when combined with fast FTP downloads I could understand lag may become an issue. On my system I host a small TeamSpeak server for my Guild's use while online, it doesn't effect my ability to play Guild Wars or even more intensive games like Counter Strike.

port mapping/forwarding etc wont make a difference, simply, because other people on the LAN are downloading, its using your internet bandwidth, which will cause lag...

the LAN IS a factor, but because most now are 100mb ATLEAST its not a big deal... one thing to try tho is that thread posted above... there is some good advice there, but some totally useless advice for thoes on LAN's and using Routers etc...
