Are you installing on an administrator account?

Does the installer from www.guildwars.com work? (clicky)

Or were you already trying with that :d

When did the error pop up, right away?

I had a problem similar to this, but I found I had a scratch along the cd, used my other one and it worked fine. ALSO, you might wanna chunk out your wireless connection, have heard people have problems with it during game play (just a thought...)

Your wireless router might have a firewall built in, so try connecting your computer directly to the modem.

Also, sometimes your software firewall can prevent things from working even when you disable it. When i switched firewalls , my new one prevented me from playing some games even when i disabled it.

which motherboard are you using (and which bios version) and what cpu do you have... and which driver version do you use for your grafics card.

it will be helpful to know some details on the crash - recreate the error and click "show details" -- then post at least the frist 5-10 lines from the details. that way we can figure out what made gw.exe crash on your system - io don't think that this is a routing issue there, thats driver/system or hardware related if you ask me.

pls post more details.

glad you found the hidden typo! O_o sorry i am late, the forum was slow last night and i was too sleepy.

Exception c0000005 or x0000005
Memory at address 207394b0 could not be read.
^^ this is your error, and it's a nasty one... is it always at the same memory adress?

-> which drivers are you using for your grafics card? i assume your windows xp??? has all updates it needs...

-> was that with the new or with the old ram? (i'd guess you upgraded with another 512, try to use the new stick of memory without the old one.
also: try to run a memory test like prime95 to check your ram. (needs to run for 2hours minimum)
additionally we have to make sure your system is free of malware: spybot s&d & normal virus scan should do the trick...

-> now it gets a little complicated: is your front side bus (internal cpu clocking) the same as your memory clocking? (you might have to check your bios for it - press DEL on boot and just look up the settings, don't !!! change anything unless you know what you are doing.)

-> when does it crash? right after trying to execute the installer or right after the grey box of the client came up? or later during the install?

-> which motherboard are you using? if possible post the bios version too.
