I like my OCZ Modstream 520W power supply.

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p... 20Technology

Runs solidly with the following equipment:

AMD64 4000+
Asus A8R-MVP Mobo
2 x Seagate 120GB SATA 7200RPM
2 x 512 Corsair 2-2-2-5 Dual Channel Kit
Asus Radeon X1800 XL

I have no doubt such a power supply could run your equipment with ease, and be able to accomadate upgarded equipment in the future.

680W... ok. But at $25.00?? I would honestly be scared to put that into my system! There has got to be a reason for the price to be that low.

FYI, the OCZ above .. sure its $115, I should point out that is in CAN currency though.

Ya the PSU is actully the most important part in your comp something you don't want to skimp out on if you do get a cheap one and it fry's it has the possablity to frying your whole comp i would spend the extra 40 to 50 bucks to get a better one and the one you listed i woulden't touch with a ten foot pole you could get the OCZ modstream 450 watt it still has enough power to power almost any system

Then you need to reprioritize gpu versus PSU.

Without clean power, your system will be unstable and might smoke itself.

That's a lot more expensive than a video card.

Well if you get a free one there's probably a good reason it was free, and it probably isn't a good idea to stick it in your box. You definately do not want to skimp on a power supply-- I promise you you will regret it if you do. Azagoth posted a 550 Watt that would work great for you. A decent power supply is usually going to be in excess of $50, the $90 one Azagoth suggested is well worth the money and priced quite fairly.

AHHH. I MIGHT BE TOO LATE.

THE 450WATT FORTON ON NEWEGG IS ONLY 50 DOLLARS AND WILL RUN ANYTHING!!!!! GO TO WWW.ANANDTECH.COM

I HOPE YOU DIDN'T GO OUT AND SPEND ALL YOUR MONEY ON THE PSU, THIS FORTON WILL RUN ANYTHING.

Oh, how I hope I am not too late.

Guys, please don't go by the wattage with PSU's. Frankly, it means bull. Look at the output, and read reviews. Forton PSU's are amazing. Everyone on anandtech.com swears by them, I swear by them, they are cheap, affordable, and have amazing reviews. Please don't think you have a need for high wattage PSU's, especially for a build like the one you are doing. Most SLI builds will run on the 450watt Forton.

I agree, though I think it should be noted that the one Azagoth found had a 5 out of 5 average rating from 177 reviews and had a 5 out of 5 average from 436 voters. I'd think that would qualify it as a decent power supply.

That's a very good point. I hadn't thought of that, and you're right... it probably would be best (and more cost effective) to go with that 450 W Forton. Kudos mate.
