Default Question

I have 512 MB for my memory (PC2700 DDR SDRAM) and am stuck with a horrible Intel Graphic Controller. What would be an appropriate graphic card for me? I don't have money. So, purchasing is out of the question. Must I go to Dell's site and download something?

What's your CPU speed and what type of interface does your motherboard have, PCI, AGP or PCI-e? It's no good going and getting an all dancing and singing 7800GTX 512MB if your CPU is going to hold it back.

After re-reading your post it seems that you want to "download" a graphics adapter? That's not possible, you're stuck with the onboard adapter if you don't wish to purchase a new card. You can't simply "download" a graphics card, it's an actual card that you have to place inside your PC and those cost money I'm afraid.

I was talking about a graphic card from Dell..an update, new version? Because, the terrible graphic controller I have now is only 64 MB, which is pretty bad. Are there any suggestions which don't relate to money?

Quite simply, no there isn't! If you want a new graphics card then you have to go out and buy one.

You could go into the bios and change the allocated shared memory from 64mb to 128mb, but it will drop your ram (512) down...

this of cause, all depends if it IS shared ram, or not... (most in board/integrated are shared)

Okay. This sounds interesting. How would I change it?

Also, will this temporarily change my ram, or would I be able to restore it back to the original setting?

If you alter it (If its shared memory) it will give you additional GFX ram at the cost of normal PC ram, -- tell me the Model number of the DELL you have and ill beable to see which sort it is, and advise you further..
