Question How to avoid a huge DL???

I'm getting a new computer system Tommorow and I was wondering if there is any way I can avoid having to re-download evrything, like possibly transfering the 1.9gig GW.dat file via disc to my new HDD....any help is appreciated.

If you have a dvd burner, burn gw.dat to a blank dvd.

Install the client on the new machine, wait till it gets to the login screen, then copy gw.dat file on top of the new very small gw.dat.

This is where 2GB pen drives come in really handy if you can't burn to DVD!

WinRar, Add Gw.dat to archive and split it into chunks over CD's if you dont have a DVD burner...
Winrar is shareware can be found here... http://www.rarlab.com/
purchasing winrar only unlocks extra features like passwords ect, basic stuff all works.

I did this a little while ago. I just took the entire Guild Wars folder off of my one computer and placed it on my notebook system. Then when I copied it back to my desktop after the rebuild I was able to run the game perfectly fine, no need to even re-install. Plus I used a different partition and directory for the Guild Wars files.

Your gw.dat file is 2.3gb? Not looking forward to getting the update as soon as my video card fan replacment is in. It was 1.2 gb something last time I checked.
