I can understand that, but barely. Type a bit slower next time.

If you look, there's an FX fix for those cards, or you ay just wanna replace it with an ATi or a 6 series card.

I had the same problem with the FX5500. Fortunately, I found a better use for the card - now it's a paperweight.

Yes, I have an FX5500. The inventory freezes aren't frequent for me, it's occasionally when I switch inventory bags, usually when moving an item from one bag to another.

There is a known issue with NVidia GeForce FX video cards (GPUs) and driver version 61.77 when the user has changed "Image Settings" to "High performance". Some of the problems include missing terrain and freezing. The solution is to change your video settings to "High quality". To do this, follow these instructions: On Windows XP:

* Open Display Properties control panel
* Click Settings tab
* Click Advanced button
* Click GeForce "Version" tab
* Select Performance and Quality Settings in left window
* In the Global Driver Settings window select Image Settings
* Move the slider to the right to "High quality"

The video cards/GPUs that are affected by this problem are:

* GeForce FX 5200
* GeForce FX 5200 Ultra
* GeForce FX 5500
* GeForce FX 5700
* GeForce FX 5700 Ultra
* GeForce FX 5700LE
* GeForce FX 5900
* GeForce FX 5900 Ultra
* GeForce FX 5900 XT
* GeForce FX 5950 Ultra
* GeForce PCX 5300
* GeForce PCX 5750
* GeForce PCX 5900

-- Basically, right-click your Desktop, Settings, Advanced, GeForce tab and put the Image Quality slider all the way to High quality.

If it doesn't work, try some different nVidia Driver versions.

Try to install these drivers - http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_81.98.html.

Geforce 6, and 7 series cards do not have this driver issue. The Geforce 5 (aka FX) line was bad over all.

Don't waste time un/installing drivers. None of the drivers will fix this issue with FX5xxx cards. I tried many drivers that various people found to work nicely. Old drivers, new drivers, none of 'em make a difference. FX5 series are crappy cards, that's all. I am an unfortunate owner of a 5200, btw.

Some tips to avoid or minimize the freezing: Try to open the inventory only when no other windows are open. Also, try to position your windows so inventory window will never overlap other windows, when you have to have them open simultaneously.

Edit: apparently, EternalTempest was lucky to get it to work (see their post below for details), so prepend what I said above with "Unless you have a 5700 Ultra"

Another solution: use F9 to open your bags as much as possible. I have most of my freezes when I go to my belt pouch from my inventory, so if I need to I do a bit of F9 bag swapping before I open it.

As you might have guessed, I am also a FX5200 owner. Until tonight, hopefully, when my 6800GS AGP is supposed to arrive (older Mobo, no PCI-E). Wish me luck in unlocking the extra 4 pipes and vertex shader.

I got lucky, I have the 5700 Ultra which has an updated newer core/chip where the early 5x series was on a different core/chip which fixed a bunch of issue so driver do work for me.

Sorry guys, i have the NVIDIA Geforce 6600 256MB 16X PCI EXPRESS video card and my computer freezes in game randomly "mostly doing quests/missions" and not on any other game and i find my gfx drivers that came with my video card are best with no errors. im gana try setting it to "highest quality" and if that doesnt work im also going to stop playing guildwars.

you have no idea how hard it is to finish the game when u freeze ... example

i paid 1k to go to farm UW with a 55hp monk i froze at the first group of monsters and lost 1k ....

i dusted my computer... i lowered the wattage on my cpu i have good card drivers it doesnt feeze during gameplay on other games. and its not a over heating problem cause i stay stable at 50 celcius which is better then before when it was like 57 somthing.
