the PSU has no effect on your pc's performance unless you have a crapload of things connected to your pc, but then it will shut down...

so how can you judge about a PSU? reliability maybe? ive never come across one that messed up..

There are MANY things a PSU can effect.. its not as simple as "if it works or not" it needs to beable to supply the correct voltages, keep its self cool (cause its one of the biggest heat creators in the case) it needs to be as quiet as possible, wattage makes a difference if you have lots of things connected yes..

the decent power supplies wont just "shut down" they will warn you some how, with a bleep or something.

but the specs you posted are pretty much a standard psu

Crappy power supplies output crappy power. A power supply has become one of the important pieces in a PC. Power supplies need to output clean power for long times with variable conditions. The last thing you would want is for your power supply to put out high or low voltages as it got warmer or cooler.

You get what you pay for.

Yep, a decent 450W PSU from a good company will outstrip a crappy cheapo 600W in the performance stakes everytime. In the end it all comes down to a PSU supplying a good stable voltage all of the time.

did i miss it or is there a complete absence of how tight the regulation is?

secondly each of my Antec True Power units have 3 year warranties not crappy 2 year.

they must not have confidence in their own product.
