Calling all Laptop uses to play guild wars!!

I just bought the HP dv8000t with a 256mb go7400 gpu

I'm sure it will be able to run Guild Wars Factions but I was just wondering how everyone else runs theres on their laptops?

I had no probs on my Acer. 512mb ram. X700portable. Laptops are sometimes burdened with heaps of crap business apps + wireless software etc etc, be nice to GW and turn off as much as you can.

However, remember to change the Resolution for widescreen.

I found my only prob was changing from full screen and back (usually to check this site or guildwiki) major swapping, meh not much to worry about.

Factions will work fine with any comp/laptop that can play orginal GW, same engine, some more DirectX support for Factions i think. nothing to stress about

256ram might be pushing it for either game though, to be honest. Hope it goes well.

That's probably 256M vRAM so that's plenty okay.

I'm on a pretty ancient laptop with 256MB RAM and I can say that it's pretty slow but I've seen others run pretty well with 512.

Alienware Area51 7700m

Running:
P4 3.4 w/ HT
1 GB Dual Channel
2 x 60GB HDDs in RAID 0
ATI X800 Mobility 256MB

Runs Guild Wars like liquid at full graphics @ 1440 x 900. All this with some 50 or so total other processes running in the background (A/V, Hamachi, MSN, Atheros Wireless etc).

Cyberpower Xplorer 64-8700
(apparently I have an older one, their site now depicts it as have some angry face with hell burning everywhere on the case. Mine's just black and grey/silver.)

Processor: Mobile AMD Turion64 MT-30, 1.6 GHz 1 MB cache
Memory: 2 x 512 GB PC3200 DDR dual channel
GFX: ATI Mobility Radeon X700 128 MB
Storage: 60 GB 7200 RPM
Monitor: 15.4'' Glare WXGA 1280x800 pixels

Works great at 1280x800 with 2xAA. Very consistent visual quality, the only "hiccups" being from an unreliable/crappy Internet connection.

Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo 1437G:
Pentium M 1.73 GHz
1GB RAM
ATi Mobility Radeon x700

Runs mostly just fine on 1280x800 and maxed eyecandy. There's some occasional stuttering, but as said it's caused by the other software running on the background.

GW will run well on cards all they way back to a Radeon 7500. So as along as you don't get Intel Integrated trash3D, you should be ok. And also stay away from SIS stuff. Intel is actually better than that

Sager 5560
2GHz Pentium M
1.5GB DDR2 533MHz RAM
Integrated Intel Graphics
1024x768 (Windowed)

Runs much better than I initially expected, considering the Intel video card. Textures are all on high, shadows at medium, reflections at default, post-process effects off. I'd say it runs about 15-20fps on average. I know that's terrible for some, but there's not a lot of discernable graphics lag so it's definitely playable and it's as much as I can ask for.

Very nice set up I was soooo ready to get a dv8000t as well, until I called HP and found out that 128MB of the 256MB video memory listed was actually shared with main RAM . Still, you can't beat the dv8000t for the hardware vs. price. I'm sure it will run GW at maxed settings no prob.

**Grumbles about Dell XPS systems not being available in Core Duo models (yet)**
