manually log in and play for a moment then log out and be sure you have the little remember me box checked.

take a look at the target line to see if it is still there and absolutely correct.

i havent typed a pass in months so i know this works

It should be:

"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -password=XXX

XXX = your password

But also, make sure your e-mail is set to "remembering it" on the Guild Wars login page.

Actually physical discomfort is a very effective way to gain cooperation or information from an individual. It may not be the most time efficient though but everyone has a breaking point it is only a matter of time needed to get to that point. Just like everyone has their price, which of itself can be used to gain information.

To perhaps more clearly illustrate the shortcut line used for auto login. Under the Shortcut tab of the properties of the shortcut there is a Target field. That field will contain this line dependant on where Guild Wars was intalled to:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe"

Simply add the switch 'password=<password>' to activate auto login so that it will look similar to:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -password=letmein

Using that shortcut will result in logging in to the account using the specified password. This also depends on having the "Remember this e-mail address" ticked at the login screen and using the correct address that goes with the password placed in the shortcut.

I've played with keyloggers at work (I'm an IT guy) so I know how dangerous they can be. To the point that I pretty much don't download anything 3rd party unless it's posted at an official site.

Edit: Shoot had to leave my response half finished to take care of something and 20 minutes later everything I wanted to clarify / add had been said.

Social engineering and catering to the ego would be my tactic of choice. Hackers already think they are smarter than everyone else so play the dumb schmuck and occasionally slip in a comment about how awesome this or that is or how cool said person is. You stroke an ego enough and eventually they will spill their guts about just about anything. The most important aspect of any interrogation is establishing a dialogue with your interogatee. You can't get angry. You can't personalize anything. This tactic would not work right away. In fact you'd probably have to put up with several hours of snobby responses or lack of response at all. As long as you keep your cool though it doesn't give them the satisfaction of knowing they got to you. That is enough to bolster anyone's confidence. You don't even necessarily have to talk about the thing you want to know about right away. If you get a good dialogue going you can actually make them bring up the subject first if you are skillful enough in steering the conversation. Interrogation these days is all about psychology and mind games not torture and physical threats.

Nah that's just not true. You beat someone enough and they will tell you what you want to hear. They will tell you they wear ladie's underwear if it will get you to stop hitting them. Interrogation is about getting useful information. Torture also cultivates a sense of apathy which has to be avoided at all costs. If they resign themselves to their fate then what incentive do they have to cooperate? The closest an interrogator should ever come to torture is what they call "self inflicted pain". It's not really self inflicted pain but you never lay a hand on the person. A common example is making someone stand up for extended periods of time. Not so terrible eh? Try doing it for twelve hours, twenty four hours, 36 hours. It hurts bad. the whole time the interrogator will say things like." You know you are only doing this to yourself. If you would just cooperate we'd bring you a chair and let you sit down." This turns the interrogatee's stubborness into the torturer and not the interogator, thus allowing a dialogue to be maintained. You beat someone physically and you personalize the entire interrogation in their mind and they'll refuse to cooperate out of spite or if they do cooperate they will likely give out useless information or the quality of their information will be suspect and require more backchecking which in turn takes up more time.

EDIT: Apologies in advance for the off topic. Call it the knowledgeable's need to instruct.

For the more extreme of us.

I hope that in a few years, this kind of technology becomes STANDARD on home PCs.

Hope you get it back Para

I hope by 'items' you are referring to real world items, like say "Plasma TV" or the like (and therefore by hacker you mean theif commiting B&E). Because no virtual in-game items of any kind from any game is worth $10,000 in real world cash. Althought this doesn't discount that there are likely some people out there with more money than brains and believes virtual items can be worth that much real cash...

I once had £3.1k worth of gold on an RPG character (runescape). and there were plenty of bigger fish in the sea than me. 10K in theory is definately possible, but for one actual item?

All I can say is req 7 15% always crystalline sword. Technically that sword is priceless in terms of GWs economy, no items could be traded for it, so it would take a real world amount of cash...people have spent more than $10k dollars on a computer game before...It's not impossible, it's insane, but not impossible ^_^.

I had a keylogger on my comp dunno how I got it but I found it through this program called taskmanager (not the default windows one) the Icon was a toaster, it was at a 99% Danger risk so I disabled and deleted it from the windows folder, hasnt been running since. I googled the exe filename to see what it was and I found a lot of info about it, all bundled up it was used to steal passwords and such "keylogger", Glad I deleted it, Hopefully I didnt give it enough time to get my stuff but I think im clear, Still able to log my account and never get kicked like that, ever!
