I just upgraded video card today. I had an ATI - Radeon 9800 XT and I just installed an nVidia - e-GeForce 7800 GS. I entered GW to check things out, and I ran outside and started attacking a few enemies. It didn't take me long to notice something was off. After a moment I realized that I was missing the sound effects. I was still hearing the music and the background(ambient) effects, but I was no longer hearing my spell effects, or the grunts from my character as she swings her sword. Once an emeny was killed, I cast Well of Blood and I was able to hear that spell's effects, and then it's like it activated a few of the others, I could start to hear some sword swings and impacts, but definately not all effects are being played.

I checked out the official game support forum, but all I could find was to make sure I was using the latest drivers. So I follwed the link and installed the latest nForce sound card drivers for the onboard chipset. I'm still missing all effects. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this before?

I tried a few other application and games, and all the effects seem to be playing in those.

Still hoping for some feedback, even if it's just to say you've experienced this before so I know it's not just me or my system.

There was a known bug that affected a lot of users, especially nForce users. So, it's not just you.

However, there was a patch last night that was supposed to have fixed the dropout issue. Is this still happening?

I did not know about the patch. I just started the game and patched it up, and low and behold, my sound effects are back.

Nice to see the game issues being patched soo promptly.

this sound issue has been going on since they started with the factions stuff back at the end of Jan

They fixed the issue today. Look at the updates
