Default Error 769 (DSL question)

After finally getting my work PC back up and running, and getting all of my previously backed-up files restored to thier rightful locations, I moved on to reformat my gaming PC.

Doo-doo-doo, reformat complete, Windows XP installed. Time to connect to the Internet!

So I jacked my computer into the DSL modem, fired up the connection setup wizard, popped in all the required info, and prepared to move on with my business... But for some reason, I can't connect to the Internet.

Upon trying to connect to my ISP... "Error 769: The specified destination is not reachable."

Now, I searched Google, and got mostly junk. The Microsoft page didn't help; followed the steps and still got the same problem. I can't set up the computer to connect through my Linksys router until I first get it connected to the Internet, so I'm in a bit of a pickle. I can access the Internet from this PC (work computer) and my two laptops via the router when I pug it into the DSL modem, but the gaming PC will not connect when plugged into the modem. So, I know it isn't Bellsouth.

After reformatting my work PC, I didn't have any problems at all. The computer was already connected through the router without me having to set it up (which surprised me, but hell if I'm going to argue with it )... I believe the problem may have to do with the fact that the entry "Ethernet Controller" (in Device Manager) appears to have no drivers installed, but I don't know what drivers to get for it and I currently don't have the means to pull the computer apart and check it out...

So, basically, I'm coming to you all for ideas and tips as to how to solve my problem. I know there is possibly many ways to fix it, so lay 'em on me. I'll try 'em all!

I have to... Otherwise I can't play Guild Wars...

Edit: Currently attemtping to obtain missing drivers from HP and Linksys... In case it is any help to those of you lending a hand, the PC in question is an HP Pavlion a320n.

Edit2: Bah, I fixed it... Thanks anyway. Now I just have to get my router setup again.
