Exclamation Downloading...

I have recently got a new computer, which meets the requirements of guild wars and i can not seem to Install it. I insert the CD, click Install Guild wars, it connects to Arenanet and I Click ok for the install directory thing. And then it comes on a Downloading screen, with no bar to see how much ive downloaded, it doesnt ever do anything, just says downloading. I have a Netgear DG834 Router and have opend ports TCP 6112 and 80 to no succesion. Please help its my favourite game. Note, I can connect to arena net.

Try installing it, and let it sit at the download screen for the whole night, if that doesnt work, try downloading the Guild Wars client(full game) from the official website, since it doesnt require a CD, and its free..http://guildwars.com/support/downloadclient/

It doesnt have a lightning bolt, it just says Downloading, there is no bar to show how much ive downladed, or a lightningbolt. I have tried leaving it for like 3 days to no success, do u think it might be my router? I am using AOL broadband and on my old comp it worked fine. Do u think Panda titanium has somethnig to do with it?

his gw aint connecting to teh gw server...

have you got any firewalls? blocked access? running on a network?

disable any firewalls, add gw.exe to exceptions and add ports to the exception list..they will be in the support page

it will be something with your router you need to allow gw to connect..thats proberly your prob

Disable your Windows Firewall and any other AntiVirus/Firewalls you have, e.g ZoneAlarm, Norton, etc.

well...its a risk...but unless you set it up correctly to allow gw the only way you can connect is by turning it off

You don't get viruses from turning off your firewall unless you allow just anyone to install things on your computer. You should be set up as network admin and you should be the only one with permission to install on your machine. If you disabled your software firewalls, 2 is a bit excessive BTW and Panda has got to be the worst Anti Virus on the market, then it's your router. You probably have to either disconnect it and go straight from your broadband modem to your network card. Your router likely has a DMZ. REad your product manual and try shunting your computer into the DMZ.
