Default Nvidia 84.26 "Quadro" driver running my FX 5700 I better > official 84.21 driver

I just tried something odd and surprised that it worked..

I've been having some flickering on load to zones for a few sec on guild wars and an glitch with the far left side of the screen (only in guildwars). This happened after the new dx9 engine update. I've been running the official Nvidia video card driver 84.21

Since the 84.21 wasn't ms whql for geforce 5 and lower (plus above issue) I was planning on downgrading my drivers. I noticed that the "Quadro" had newer driver (Quardro cards are for serious 3d animation, autocad, etc).

I decided to grab there most current driver (thinking it would fail on install). Not only did it install, but it is ms whql for my geforce fx 5700 and my GW problems went away. Getting about the same performace as before (no speed up or down that I noticed so far).

I would ONLY try this if your having similar issues to me or you want to be brave.

I would guess this is a nice find tempest. Personally I wouldn't have done it, maybe look around for 3rd party drivers before going towards another platform's drivers

I did it mainely since I know how to use the utility like driver cleaner pro (http://www.drivercleaner.net/) to purge any left over drivers left in windows in case I had to remove them and start clean.

I was just very shocked that the put the driver for the geforce 5700 ultra in there other card line drivers and wanted people to know.

You seriously need to upgrade *sadface*

84.26 was previously a leaked release from MSI (only available at Guru3D), strange that NVIDIA would officially release it now under the Quadro section. Generally, all ForceWare drivers will install/work on all cards whether the drivers are "for Quadro" or "for GeForce."

Now, if you're really feeling brave...*click*

I'd be guessing that Quadro-line didn't work that good with the newest "official" drivers so they made a hasty fix of releasing old Quadro-ok driver as "latest" Quadro-driver. Or vice versa, some newer GF-cards have issues with the driver set. Neverknow.

Anyways, no need to upgrade drivers if they are working fine. I'm still stuck on my stoneagedrivers, should prolly update to newer ones to get the driverbased video decompression without having PureVideo installed. :|

I would be looking at the EOL Agp cards on the verge of vista new cards.. (aka new system) that can don't have the money atm. I can still make Gw look good around 30-40 fps.

Not that brave the driver works w/o bugs I was having.
