Exclamation Crash when click item in Inventory

When i play Guild Wars, when i click an item in my inventory, click a merchant, or just play, my computer crashes and I get a BSOD (Blue screen of death) with this message:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you’ve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer of the driver for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.

I've tried updates, re-installing, and other things too but nothing seems to work! Help!

Any chance of getting some info on the computer? Laptop? Intel integrated graphics chip?

Quick googling tosses out multiple threads on different forums about Intel vidcards and/or some HP laptops.

If it's Intel videochip, think there's few sticky threads on this forum.

(to see what vidcard you have, right click on My Computer-icon and select properties. Select the 'Hardware' tab under system properties and click on Device Manager. Click on the little + in front of 'Display Adapters' to open up the group, and there you have it.)

I was getting nasty crashes 95% of the time when trying to drag and drop stuff in my invetory, and also when trying to re-allocate skills. It only seemed to go mental on my laptop when dragging overlay icons/sprites like the inventory items and skills, so after a bit of head scratching came up with this:-

1. Go to extreme graphics options - OpenGL.
Make sure memory footprint is set to "high" (this forces your card always to use 64mb of memory, rather than act dynamically, and is much more stable).

2. Go to your normal Display settings, then Settings, Advanced, Troubleshoot and drop the slider down one notch from the top (you can leave write combining on though). This troubleshooting setting is to troubleshoot issues with bitmap overlays (such as sprites, mouse pointers etc)... The area I had identified was causing my crashes.

Guildwars now runs flawlessly. I can drag, drop, and re-allocate skils to my hearts content. No crashes in the last 4 hours of stress test (compared to my usual 5 mins max!). Give it a bash and tell me how you get on!
Oh and doing forum search here: Problems with ialmdd5.ddl?? This may help!!, also found from the stickies.

here's some urls from intel about the problem. they don't seem to be updated to point to the latest driver versions though. you should definitely download and install the latest drivers.
