Default Crash to Desktop...

Hmm... Seems like it gets more and more frequent. The game will just shut down sometimes... Usually once an hour but sometimes even 3 or 4 times an hour... The little Send a Complaint to ANet thing pops up but the fact that it happens quite a bit makes me think it's a driver problem or internet problem... Battlefield 2 does it too but that's a common problem among BF2 players...

Have you checked your drivers? Guild Wars just crashed the hell out of my computer a few minutes ago and just found out my drivers were outdated.

Guys,
If you use the Seach button you will fine oodles of info on this beast,.....mine was around this fault:
>>Crash<< “memory address XXXXXXXX can not be read”

There would appear to be no single suitable fix, however,....here is a quick recap of possible causes and fixes as I have found (I too have been affected by this, but last night there was no crash at all after 6 hours of continuous play maybe a-net has fixed it- finally )

Try first:
- Installing latest Graphics driver [nVidia = 84.21]
- Latest Direct X component from Microsoft [as of Early April]
- Any other outstanding downloads for XP [same time as Direct X].
- Turn detail and AA down [in video> options- no difference].
- Take out RAM module (s), re-seat.
- Does it still do it if X-Fire is open in system tray (if so close it).

IF the error still occurs.

Try:
- Looking for spy-ware or Virus- taking up vaulable CPU cycles and memory.
- Unistall and Re-install the entire GW game folder.
- Look for updated Mobo or Chipset Drivers
- Memtest on RAM [ 8 hours each chip seperately if in Dual Channel]- flaky chip???
- Inspect Direct X properties Start>>Run>>.type”dxdiag” to confirm version and use diagnostic tools to inspect installation ok.
- Turn sound quality down.

If all else fails, keep searching the forums, there maybe an obscure fix that I haven't listed which might just work for you, each system is different.

Hopefully I have nailed my bug,....I hope you can too !
