I have just bought a Factions game not knowing when the collecters edition would be out I have installed it and am currently playing on it.

My Question is when the collectors edition comes out, how can I switch to using that? Do I uninstall factions then reintall the collectors edition?

And the regualar factions one I uninstall can I give that to someone else to use ? or does it make it moot?
Thanks

I honestly wouldn't bother. I was going to attempt to get the Collector's Edition as well, travelled 200+ KMs to a large city and spent an entire day going around looking for it. Either no one had it, or they were reserved for Pre-Orders. I wasn't all that suprised, so I just picked up a regular Factions. Wasn't going to bother wasting time waiting for it. It would have been nice to have a few of the little trinkets that come with CE, but keep in mind that's all they are - trinkets.

If you do buy CE and add the key to your current account that has Factions you've effectively spent a lot of money on one game. You can't unlink your other Factions key from your account anyway, and the software is useless without an activated account. On the other hand if you just start a brand new Factions account (or merge CE with a Prophecies account assuming this wasn't done your current Factions) then in a theoretical world you could 'give' or 'sell' your other Factions / Account to a friend (or enemy). However this is clearly written in the EULA as a bad thing and therefore if Anet were to find out they could Ban all your accounts.

I don't think that the game really cares where it's installed; just that there is only one copy of Factions associated with Prophecies, hence the "Access Key(s) already registered to the account will not be released for re-use". I have the Standard Edition installed with my Prophecies account and I just bought the Collectors Edition. I want to give my son my Standard Edition and use the Collectors Edition for myself. I think the only way I can do this is to switch accounts with my son since he does not have a Factions game associated with his Prophecies account.
