Post install issues

ive not played GW:Proph for a while now,but the game remained installed on my PC whilst i wasnt using it.

So i recently bought the factions pack and went for a fresh install of both the original GW and of course my new game.

But now i am totally unable to install.
i get the following error in an error report box:

*--> Crash <--*
Exception: c0000005
Memory at address 807806ec (or similar) could not be read
App: Gw.exe
ProgramId: 1
Build: 17399
When: 5/20/2006 14:29:46
Flags: 0

This happens on both copies.I have run the game fine in the past with no issues, never had any install problems until this.

have run memtest, checked for viruses.spyware etc,had a fresh reformat of windows, and sent an email to uk support on the official guildwars site.

they have asked me to send some results from a DirectX diagnostic tests which i have sent and i now wait for the reply hoping for a fix to the problem.

ive run the prophecies game now since a little after release, but havent played the game for a month or 2.never had any problems before like this, occasional crashes in game but thats it.
i even played factions in the test stage for a day and it ran fine then too :S

So..i tried installing warcraft 3 and the expansion to test if there was a problem with other games too but both installed and work fine.im totally stumped as to what the problem is and was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and how they fixed it.

heres a little info on my pc

You have 510mb of RAM? Well, either way it sounds like a problem with your RAM being read at a particular address. Check your RAM again and find out how much you have.
