Default I'm getting really tired...

...of err=007s. I hate to whine (excessively), and I'm not blaming Anet, but this is getting to me. Has any progress been made on this issue? I saw a thread on issues with one of the major ISPs or something...any resolution?

Is there any official statement about the status of this?

All excuses, Anet just wanted to cheap out that's all.

After all under the EULA they are under no obligation to provide you with any service!

strange man.. I never get err=7 at most it lags bad in certain towns (like in the house of zu heltzer)- wonder if it's some kind of bad hop issue with certain providers.. if everyone in your group gets booted it's definitely anets server though

I have yet to get an err=7 since Factions was released. Perhaps it's because I'm a henchies man? Real people suck.

I did that challenge mission with people, first time we killed 8 Afflicted and had to restart because they all died(im not to blame, I nearly killed a boss on my own while my team struggled with 2 warriors)

Redid the thing with hench and the first time with them I got 72 kills. Not great. but it's hench, so I was happy with that for the first time. I've done better since, but nowhere near that 244 score or w/e it was on the records list. That would require an organized team. Hench != organized.

Do you know if your err7 reason is due to packet loss on a particular Tier 1? If not, please run all the tests and work with support. There may be other reasons for your err7, and just because a significant number of people are experiencing this, doesn't mean your problem is the same.

thats a point.

However, this is probably due to there being too many people recommended for each server so inevitably while trying to compensate for everyone on the server, it bugs out on some random people.

Lol, Anet dont have to provide any service? well that would be a bummer :/

The fact that many people report problems, especially since Factions, indicates a good chance of a common issue. But the real reason I posted this in Riverside and not here was that I wanted to know what the 'big picture' on connection errors is. Getting better? Worse? Isolated by region? How frequent overall?

Anyone have those answers?

I agree with Kryshnysh on this matter. It can be a number of things that are causing your error 007. Work with the techs, they really do know what they are doing, it just takes a bit of time to go through all the things they ask to rule out as a problem.
I know that after that last bad day of error crashes, where everyone was effected, about a week or so ago, my problems have so far been resolved for the most part. I still get some lag, and error 007 sometimes, but no where like it was before. So as long as I can play adiquately, I am fine.

There are a number of common issues that seem to be occuring. The lag in Maatu Keep/towns/etc. which seems to be getting better by most accounts on the board.

The problem due to Tier 1 ISPs, where I'm not too sure. This seem to be the cause (at least the last times I traced packets) when lots of people claim "the servers are corrupt" or some other such stuff and many people cannot log into characters at certain locations, etc. Other people seem to have constant problems with the same network (e.g. phantoma). Unless everyone did the proper legwork, we couldn't even gather enough data to have a clue. I'm not sure if even ANet (who has all the support submissions) can tell us a lot about that unless a very large number of people are reporting.

I'd write up how to determine whether you are seeing packet loss at any particular IP/ISP, and start a poll, but its not an easy process, or analysis, and I'm not sure how many people who have packet loss would reply. I'm not facing significant packet loss at the moment (I only face it at the aforementioned spikes of packet loss to large numbers of people - which I haven't seen in a couple weeks?), so all I could say is "No significant ISP-related packet loss most of the time."

Any disruption between [ PC -> ISP -> The Cloud (Internet) -> Anet ISP -> Anet Server ] will cause problems. This is in addtion to the possibility of software / hardware issues you may have on your pc.

When you get the error, run this utility, it will genereate a detailed log file. If it's not on you end, you can send to Anet and they will do what they can if it's on there end.

First of all, I feel the frustration you have.
Don't mean to brag, but I have't had any problem with connections for playing GW over a year now. Been playing Faction since it was out. Never had any connection problem either.
I had lag problem, but I know it was my slow computer. After I updated to a dual core AMD, and 258 MB 7800 graphic card , game runs smoothly. Only one time I had lag was the day of the release in Moneatery. I think that was due to the network congestion.
Maybe I'm just lucky here.

One night, I was playing with a guildie. Suddenly, he couldn't get connection to anywhere and I had no problem. The only different we have is that I use Comcast Cable and he uses Verizon DSL. I remember ppl mentioned that ANet is actually running on Verizon server. Could this be the reason.

I never had any problems until right around the Factions release. And I don't have problems with other games. So I'm not pursuing the whole 'slow computer' approach, much as I'd like an excuse to upgrade

Also strange: It is not related to lag. I'll be going along fine, no lag, and then wham - err7.

ok, couple of things, first off, the ping trace program, if you decide to do that, just make sure you are not connected to a router, I have 5 computers hooked up so, I had to bypass the router so that my computer was directly connected to the modem. Also, the cable network that I use is routing through the verison ALTER.NET tier, so don't count yourself out if you are getting error 007, error 005, and error 058. These are all common to the packet loss "experience" as well as lag, just keep in mind, that you need to go through the trial and error tests that the techs get you to do to rule out a possible conflict, glitch, slow harware, update, etc, that could actually be the reason for your problem. Don't get me wrong, I still have connection problems, but they seem to have done some form of cleanup last week. I do know that we had family in a differnt city playing Halo and they were all having the same issues that we were having with errors and lag, only to find out that it was the pier one that was having a prob. This did effect many many ppl, in GW, WOW, Lineage2, and Halo, and probably many other games as well. Anything that was being routed through the pier one was effected last week. When something like that does happen, all we can really do is wait and see how things transpire afterwards. Whatever they did last week, seems to have corrected some of what was going on, but not all of it.

Its not henchies.....I use them and get err 7, err 5, even an occasional err 19, and err 50...........

what is strange is that my husband is playing on the same dsl line without any problems (we have had this when we were playing together as well as when we were not).....so its not us since he was fine (and alternatively he has been booted when I have not).....so no idea whats going on.
