Default Cpu

The higher the cpu the better right?

Because a friend of mine has, 2.3Ghz Intel Pentium 4's

And I have, two 3.4Ghz Intel Pentium 4's

Is mine or his better?

are they on the same motherboard or do you have 2 pcs?

in any case a 3.4 p4 beats a 2.3 p4 hands down

No, the chip's arcitechture (sp?) matters much more than its clock speed.

Depends, if they are the same arcitechture (sp?), use the same motherboard, have and are basically the same system minus the CPU being different then the 3.4Ghz Intel would probably win. Note I say probably, because there are much too many factors to figure in for any measure of certainty.

Not to mention the varying levels of "better", this more often than not depends on situation and application. You may try some synthetic benchmarks, though those aren't always applicable to real world performance.

There was no 2.30 P4. He may have a 2.26.
But within the same processor family, all other features being equal, clock speed wins.

and yes, as stated above the architecture is what makes the difference and the mobo it's running on as well.
