Default Strange Ground Textures

I recently got a new graphics card (GeForce 6600) and whenever I load an area with Texture Quality at any setting other than low, all the textures appear in squares, like the following pictures. Anyone have an idea what's going on? I've tried restarting the game, but nothing happens. The blocks go away if I change the graphics settings in any way, but appear again once I enter a new area.

It looks to me as though you may need to totally uninstall all trace of GFX Drivers (both nvidia, and ATI) (use drivercleaner (google it)) -- restart your machine after doing that, let windows install ITS Driver..

download/install the latest ForceWare from the nVidia Site, and reboot again

download/install the latest DirectX from Microsoft, and reboot again..

this should fix your problems..

If it doesnt, throw the card away, and get a decent one - like an ATI or something....

(yes, i have a pet hate towards nvidia)

Checkerboarding can often be an effect of bad video RAM, or you may be using beta drivers, which have caused similar weirdness for me in the past.

Verify that you're using 84.21, the latest WHQL drivers. Also make sure the video card isn't overclocked. Then test it in other 3d apps as well. If all that fails, you may indeed have a bad card.

you need to update your video card drivers.

Uninstall the old ones, then install the new ones.

Yeah, I updated to 84.21 and it works fine now. Thanks.
