Default Laaaaaagggggg! Network?

Greetings all.

Guild Wars has been very laggy to the point of unplayable, at least in PvP areas, in the last 1-2 days. Spells will simply pulse and I get a lot of rubberbanding.

Before you ask, it is not my set up or ISP. I have changed nothing, and EQ2 and WOW still run perfect at full quality. I hear several have the same problem, and yet others say it is running perfectly. I have been told it is probably a network issue. Network, as in the server for the game?

Thanks for any insight, and especially for any solutions. I am flumuxed.

Thanks!

Thaks for the reply, taht actually makes me feel better. I was really starting to worry. As much as I want to play, I still am happy it is not some crazy issue with me somehow. I have no idea how it could be, but still nice to know I am not alone. Several online have told me the same thing.

Let's hope this gets cleaned up asap.

Been getting the same thing since saturday.
Saturdays maintance made things start lagging for me.

Something ArenaNet should learn is.....Dont fix what aint broken !
They did something to the game on saturday that is causing lag spikes, Moonwalking,Delayed skills and Disconnect error 7s. Somtimes it even lags when trying to log off rofl.

I've been getting lag too. Even in a party with others not having lag, I've been getting lag. So has someone else I came across. I wonder if people are randomly connected to one of a number of connections or something through Arenanet. I guess I got a bad one and have to wait til I'm on a good one.

Right now I'm in the Sanctum Cay outpost and I can't even map out of it. I can't sell items to the merchant. I can't enter the Guild Hall to exit that way. I can't do anything.

I am having problems as well, and I tried EVERYTHING support FAQ says to in order to minimize lag.

Updated DirectX; updated router driver; defraged; made sure GW.EXE was enabled thru firewall; made sure the ports were open; I did. Everything.

I'm on cable modem, haven't really had major problems until Saturday night. And like you, Linksys, I can be in a party where no one else is having problems. I think I'm running somewhere, and in fact, I'm getting beaten on by Jade Brotherhood like 300 yards behind where I appear to be. Skills sit there swirling, I'm frozen up.

I am VERY very frustrated.

Yep, still a big problem for me as well, just checked it out. Skills do not recharge, the simply sit and pulse. Saturday definatly messed something up. I play all the high end game with MUCH higher resource demands. They are just dandy and yet this is unplayable now. And, yes, since Saturday.

This needs to get fixed and fast. This is NOT our issue, at all!

PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE!

Whew, feel a little better.

Yep, the swirling pulsing skill bar and the magical lag teleportation of randomness. And I'm just one Tyria bonus away from the Protector title. I just need the Sanctum Cay bonus but can't get off the freaking boat I start on.

I also am on cable and use a router and did the same steps of making sure ports were open for GW. After that I gave up and plugged my PC directly to the Cable Modem and still the same problem. And I also seem to be getting attacked while being 500 feet ahead of Ice Imps. And my skills seem to take 1 minute to take effect after trying to use them.

I reported my problems to support, and they told me that the problem should be fixed and I should test it out.

I'm at work - anyone out there who experienced this lag able to confirm anything changed?

May be too soon to tell atm, because if it's server-side, it may not be detectable until the high-traffic times.

this is ridiculous, the lag is immense, its up to a 2 seconds of lag before the server carries the command... very very annoying..

They seemed to have fixed the lag now, at least at Sanctum Cay. I finally got the bonus I needed and got the Tyrian Protector title. However, I should probably not display it before entering a mission to cap an elite skill, or people may think I'm just there to cap an elite then quit. Whereas, I'm always willing to finish the mission. Unless the whole group's purpose is to cap elites, like at Thunderhead Keep or Dragon's Lair.

Anyways, sorry back on topic. When this happens and everything else you do on the internet is working fine, I don't see a reason to bother your ISP tech support people. I wonder how much time and resources were wasted because gamers were led to believe that the problem is from their ISP's or computers. Imagine someone spending top dollar for a new video card he/she doesn't really need, thinking it will solve the lag that's really from the game server and will be fixed soon anyways. I'm sure it's happened before. Gamers are told to first go to their ISP's and computers.

Well... I don't want to jinx anything... but I did just play for an evening without the lag I had before.

I think I'll wait a little closer to the 72 hours before I close the ticket with support, just in case! It was just too awful to forget so soon.

Lucky you! I didn't even last 5 minutes in HzH before getting booted yet again

ok here we go again, seek help from GW tech, take a ticket, keep it going, do the troubleshooting, a ping/trace test will confirm if it is ALTER.NET that is the problem. More ppl doing this = more tickets = more troubles with ALTER.NET = A GD FIX!!

I have been having sever lag since today. I never had experienced any lag before untill now. I hope they fix this soon, because there's no problem with my internet connection.

Been there, done that. After a week of them telling me that there are issues with my PC or ISP I have lost faith in "support" and given up on a resolution to this from them. This is after sending in several trace logs showing packet loss at alter.net. I even tried pointing them to several threads here showing that the issue was not just effecting me. What's the point of everyone raising tickets if all we're going to be told is to check our PC's and then harass our ISP's. I'd have been happier for them to admit that there's a problem and they have no estimate on a fix.
