GW has ceased to work on my system
When I start the GW program, the game suddenly ceases activity approximately 3/4s of a second after the patch box appears. There is no error message or warning -- it all happens so fast. I'll start the program, the patch box appears, and then the program ends.
I tried reinstalling. The problem persisted, but did not appear until the initial patching was finished. A guildie of mine recommended renaming Gw.dat file. I tried this, and I DL'd a ton of files, and then it kicked in again. GW was working fine last night. I even played on it post-patch, so I do not believe the patch to be the problem. The only thing I installed between last night and today is Windows Media Player 11 beta -- something that shouldn't affect GW at all. I even uninstalled that, just to see if it would clear out the problem, but it didn't. I'm at my wits end. I really want to get this working by tonight -- my ladder team has a session and I do not want to miss it. But I have no idea what's wrong, no leads, no information to go off of. Help will be greatly appreciated. |

The problem was solved by a guildie of mine. Apparently, I had a corrupted registry file, which was fixed by a timely system restore.
