Default some wierd crashes

my computer has been crashing for a couple weeks now, it's pretty new, and when it crashes there is a black screen, then i hear a click from the tower, then the screen flashes blue with some white writing for about half a second, then restarts. sometimes the screen just goes black but then comes back up when i jiggle my mouse. i haven't really seen any pattern as to when it happens and when i open up the system log the only thing that i can find that could possible be it says that it was a user initaited shutdown. this is really starting to bug me and i have no idea how to stop it.
i've got a:
GeForce6600
AMD athlon64 dual core 3800
1gig of RAM
160GB hard drive
eVGA nforce4 motherboard

i'm still quite the newb at computers and would appreciate any help i recieve. thank you so much

Go into your system properties and click on the advanced tab, then click settings next to "startup and recovery", then uncheck the box that says to automatically restart under system failure. Then try to write down the error message when it pops up again, and put it on here.

k, just did it again, finally got to read the screen, it said some things about new hardware, then gave this thing BAD_POOL_CALLER, i figured it might have to do with the printer i never installed, then just turned off, so i unplugged that to see if it would do anything

Hmm, that could be a number of things, did you write down any of the starting numbers like 0xC2...? Could be RAM, or something resolved by a windows update, or driver problems, print server, etc.

I might go along under the assumption of a bad driver, but you can also run this on your computer just to double check.

oh no... BSOD!!!

Quote:
The Stop 0xC2 error message indicates that a kernel-mode process or driver incorrectly tried to perform a memory operation. Typically, faulty device drivers or device software cause this error message.
~Full Article, includes detailed explanation.

Try reinstalling/updating drivers. Also, if you have installed any new software or hardware, try removing it. Let us know if that helps.

It works on a CD also, if you read the instructions on how to burn it to a CD. But regardless, I'm sure it has something to do with the printer driver.

well with the printer i had installed an hp deskjet 5150, then the printer assistant started getting on my nerves so i was going to remove the printer since i wasn't using it. i dont' remember if i just deleted the files or if i uninstalled them, i tried to reinstall the printer but it says it's missing a file and can't install. i didn't realize at the time of my rash decision to get rid of the printer the problems that might stem from it.
