hello guys,
my HDD has the name (I: )blablabla, its really anoying because I'm used to (C: ). Can someone tell me how I can change then name of my HDD to (C: )blablabla. please help me bye

what devices did you add to the system ?

or did it come to you that way from a friend?

Double click on "My Computer" --> Right Click on drive letter --> Properties
Change the name in the "Label:" field.

or

Open a command prompt with CMD or COMMAND and enter:

label c: MyName

Thats for the label, not the drive's letter (For example C: RyZell, D: Atomheart)
I remember having changed the letter of a partition to W: but i forgot how i did that... Ask Gooooogle

Windows XP Click on START > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management

In there, you will see Disk management, Click it..., and on the right you will see all your drives in your machine, choose the drive you wish to change the letter for, right click it (on the bottom option) and then click "Change Drive Letter" -- If C: is NOT Available, re-post and i'll give further instructions as it is VERY complicated, and can go wrong...

Windows XP is really cranky about changing the letter it is installed on, and the letter it has it's boot information on, so it probably won't allow the change anyways, but you can try via Disk Management as Ghozer mentioned.

If it can't be done via Disk Management, it gets really hairy, and prolly not worth the trouble in the end

If you changing the drvie letter which has Windows installed on it, I would highly recommend you don't.

Windows XP really hates it when you change the drive letter, not to mention all the programs on your PC as well.

I would say your best option is to not use Windows but use Partition Magic 8.0, great little program.

There is no easy way to change your windows drive letter and have your pc working fine.. all your apps think they are on drive I
You would be better off reformatting and starting again so it ends up c, as if you try to do it that will most likely be what ends up happening when it goes wrong.

A clean format and reinstall is the best way to go, and isn't too hard. The average format, reinstall/set-up can be done within 1-2 hours max.

Just make sure you have all your data, software/hardware drivers backed up on flash drive or 2nd harddisk to save time.

Just image the drive. Reinstalling is so Windows 98.

Imaging the drive won't work, unless you reinstall and image afterwards. Partiton Magic wasn't terribly reliable before Norton bought Quest, and Norton/Symantec totally ruined it after they bought it.

norton partition magic *should* work because its got a program that runs after that changed all references to <old drive letter> to <new drive letter> however if this doesnt work (ive done it once and it was fine and the second time i tried to mess with loads of drive letter and it didnt work) dont blame me its an option but its really not that important.. my advice - if its not broke dont fix it
