Default Problem with Teamspeak Client

Hey, when I load up Teamspeak 2, this message pops up and then the microphone on my headset doesn't work. It has the little muted sign by it and there is no option to unmute it

PS: I have re-installed the client once to see if resetting the codecs would change anything.. no luck.

open team speak, Click ok on that message, It should still open up... then, go to SETTINGS > Options, and select "Wave" -- select your Sound Card for the Input Device and the Output Device...

IF this works... Then there's a problem with DirectX/Direct Sound so reinstall your sound card drivers... THEN Direct X

if this DOESNT work, then It could still be Your sound card drivers, (not directX) or the card its self is dead..... again, reinstall your sound card drivers...

IF After reinstalling, neither Wave or DirectSound work, then you will probably need to replace your sound card...

Have you tested other audio settings?

Control Panel -> Sound & Audio Devices

Next, go to the Voice tab and click Test Hardware.

You may need to reinstall your audio drivers.

some people ask, why pay to use ventrilo when teamspeak is free? well, simple, it is a more stable program. I used to use teamspeak all of the time, and had constant problems with it, but alas, i bougth a ventrilo server and have yet to have any problems. guess this is a matter of opinions and machines.

I disagree Vecte -- I have had more problems with Ventrilo, the Server AND client software uses more CPU, and more bandwidth, thier software is un stable, and crashes atleast twice per day..

TeamSpeak however, Have never had any crashes, only ever had the audio problem above once, and that was due to sound card drivers (which ventrilo broke might I add)

TS and Vent are one in the same for the most part actually. Most errors that arise you'll find in both programs. The most common problem with both is simple user error.

As far as the problem with the first post, the reply after is pretty much what needs to be done.
