From what i can tell; graphics card overheating..

Try open the side case, and keep it in a cool room..

It souds lik ethe wuite squares and lines are artifacts, results of what happens when a gpu gets too hot (for exaplme, overclocking)

Mine does it at default clocks when i play guild wars in a hot room, i start getting white squares... so i just turn the fan speed up on my 3 internal fans and its fine

Smile Hot computer parts...

Heat kills a lot of computers. If you can keep it in an air-conditioned environment it will last longer.

Also, sometimes removing the cover can help, as was previously stated. But sometimes it can actually make the heating worse. The fans create forced-air cooling, so when you remove the cover the air path may change from going across hot board to just escaping out the side. You do get more convection cooling from opening the cover, but usually this does a lot less than the forced-air cooling. It is good idea is to monitor whatever temperatures your BIOS reports, that can help you decide what works better.

As far as increasing your fan speeds, you may or may not be able to do so, depending on your motherboard and BIOS.

Guild Wars does heat up components. If you have a video card that is marginal in meeting the minimum requirements, it may heat up significantly as it will be maxxed out.

Heat can cause permanent damage, so if cooling down the computer doesn't fix it, you may have to consider some new pieces.

Good luck!

I put a few fans in myself, case fans which have their own speed control wire wich you use a screwdriver to turn the dial and it speeds up (makes a hell of a noise though)

What i'd suggest is perhaps getting one or two cae fans put in yourself, perhaps a new power supply (recently bought a £60 one which keeps my whole pc at around a cool 30oc)

Also, i had a graphics card fan put in, this fan takes up one dock of a pci slot, and goes on the top of a graphics card, keeps the card really cool..

I wouldnt suggest messing with stuff inside your pc unless you know what youre doing..
