Default How will this computer do? DeSpErAtE now...

I have been looking at new computers for a while now and think I have found one that looks adequate and is in my price range. I am now asking all you people who know something about computers, video cards and that other junk (i know almost nothing except big numbers are good ) how will this one do?
http://configure.dell.com/dellstore/...9150_FEAT_ E1

I want a dell and that one looks like the one. I currently have a *looks at box tower beside him* stock dell dimension 4100 except I added a Geforce 4. Anyways, it is no longer adequate to play GW:factions as the lag is unbelievable. I plan to upgrade the video card a dot to the one above it -->256MB nVidia Geforce 7300LE TurboCache. So, will this one do?

PS: What is a "Physics Accelerator"? do i need it?

I'd pick the 6800 or x1900 video card.

Physics Accelerator is a feature that some newer games may use. Not many if any yet that do.

Im not very tech savvy but I know that the 7300 le isn't a very good card. Don't be fooled by memory, that's not really what counts anymore. Overall the computer's probably adequate for most of today's games, but you can get a better deal.

If its alag thing, check your connection first, that might be the problem(too many hops to server, or bad routing, ect). It amazes me that so many people get lag, an immediately think they need to upgrade a video card/RAM/processor, instead of looking at their connection. But try the network first, see whats going on there.

LOL! How WHAT? How do you check it? How could it be the router, ect. The one thing I see alot is people asking for help, but not giving needed information, like RAM(how much, what speed, brand), processor(brand, speed, nanometer(if it was built with 90nm, 60nm, 25nm, 13nm, just to throw some random numbers in).
Tell me what it is you want to do (pm would be best, if you think responding here might clutter thread to much), and Ill help as best I can.

Dell 7100 not working?

My ~6 year old Dell 2400 still plays Guild Wars with minimal lag lol.

Guild Wars doesn't do anything fansy, a cheap computer and a cheaper card can run it as long as you stick as much RAM in your computer as you can

On checking your cable connection:
I currently am a Cablevision subscriber. On their web page, they have a link to do some tests on my current connection (a great way to see what kind of lag you might be experiencing). See if your internet provider a web site that has something like that.
It could also be your modem (hoping you have broadband; I know some friends that use dsl; they go through some stages where there spped is great one day, and really bad the next). I'm not a big propenent on playing games over wireless connections, though I have set up several wireless environments. If possible, if you're playing on a system over a wireless, try connecting directly to your router, and see if there's a difference.
If you really feel it's your computer, as an alternative to Dell, go to www.tigerdirect.com. You can put together a pretty good system (I'd recommend an Athlon 64, or a dual-core (Athlon X-2), at least 1 GB RAM, and a PCI Express Video card....
Hope that helps a little bit...

Upgrade to 320GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive for 50$
Buy a graphics card from NCIX or Newegg. Try a nvidia 7600 gt or something in that area.
Buy a sound card from NCIX or Newegg. Soundblaster X-Fi or something like that.

And you have yourself a good system. Most dell upgrades cost more then retail or are not up to par with technology. You should come in at just under 2k.

Can Ageia's PhysX Card Bring Real-World Physics to Games?
