Default Memory issue

I have 1 gig of ram. Before I run GW, I usually have around 600 mb available. (Windows + mcafee + 128 mb integrated graphics eats it up). While I run GW, I usually have 300+ mb of ram available. However, while playing i'll sometimes get this random lag spike. Afterwards, ill look in the task manager and notice that the memory usage of all of my processes has decreased dramatically, like they've been paged due to lack of memory, although I have more than enough available to run GW. The memory has increased to around 750 mb available after i close GW, although all my apps start up slightly slower. (Strangely, the PF usage doesn't increase at all). Anyone know what could be causing this?

Is there any particular zone or event in game that triggers it?

No, just randomly... but it's always while playing the game.

Do you have a static page file size set? That may or may not be the issue here, but it usually helps system performance overall to do so.

Anything which accesses the net will cause lag - and if those are the only programs you have running it's pretty guaranteed to be McAfee. Try disabling the automatic update feature: when McAfee calls home you'll get a spike. Also make sure McAfee isn't doing any scheduled virushunting in the background.

i think it is mcafee too. mcafee maybe scans some of the incoming data and maybe think it is a virus and it is going to search the data a bit better and then it sees that it isn't a virus. (this may cause a spike, but i don't know if i typed evrything correctly or used the correct words)

I also had a similar problem with Guild Wars and Mcafee. Now I shut down all the Mcafee Process's excluding the Firewall process's, OAS Client and WCS Integration Service.

My experience with Mccafee was like many others, sucked quite a bit of performance out for me too.
