Default RE: Hardware Failure Detected

As soon as the game starts (5 secs), it crashes with "Guildwars detected a possible hardware malfunction...blah blah". Can even get far enough to start to create an account.

Soyo KT600
Athlon XP 3200+
1GB RAM (simpletech)
PNY Geforce 4 ti4600
500W antec power supply
No over clocking
CPU at 43C
Memory timing not set faster
XP SP2 with all updates
Nvidia 77.72 drivers (latest) and tried 71.84
Creative Labs AudioPCI

No other cards in the system. DirectX 9.0b. Quit all background apps and antivirus.

Dxdiags pass, 60 minute stress tests produce no errors. No other problems with any other games (UT2004, Doom3, COH, WoW)

What else can I try?

That message goes on to say, it's because of a cpu that's too hot or ram timings are too tight

Try updating to Direct X9.0c and try again. If that doesn't work, Roll back your drivers to an earlier version in the 60 range, running the Driver Cleaner software obtainable from www.guru3d.com
You can get the drivers from there also.

If that doesn't work, try removing the Creative Sound Card and try without that being installed. Something Creative Cards can conflict or cause problems with systems.

I would recommend a complete deletion of all Temp Directory files and defrag the drive where the game is located.

These are possible solutions for you to try.

I would also check this Forum a little more thorough, as I beleive I remember seeing something similar not too long ago.

i have to agree with installing direct x 9c, the newer nvidia drivers are designed to be run in conjuction with dx 9c.

simpletech ram...that's your problem. drop the voltage on the simpletech ram in your BIOS...Severe is right. that message should go on to say that your CPU is overheating or your RAM timing s are too tight.

Shipped stock the simpletech RAM is too tight...just clock down the simpletech RAM and you'll be good to go

I just discovered the Simpletech RAM is my system is also my problem. Removing one stick seems to alleviate all the problems I have posted in the BSOD topic. The problem I now have, though, is that I have no way in my BIOS to change the RAM speed. Any suggestions beyond ponying up for Corsair or better? =P

If you don't have an option to change the Ram Timings, it could be because the RAM timings are set to AUTO Detect. You will need to set this function to manual or customise to enable you to change the timings.

I am having the same problem... I get in the log on screen and about 1-5 seconds later "we have detected a hardware failure and will now launch this utterly USELESS site to make you feel like you can figure out a solution!"

Computer: AMD Athlon XP 3000+ 2.10 GHz 1.00 GB of RAM (ram sticks are 2 corsair valueselect 512mb) Running an ATI Sapphire RADEON 9600 series with a santa cruz sound card AND on board sound card on mobo (ABIT NF7-s2g)
