Default TS gives me BSoD

I've been trying to get Teamspeak up and running for a few days now and I get the same results every time. I click on the TS icon, my computer freezes for a moment and I get sent to the Blue Screen of Death.

The following message is displayed

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Has anyone else encountered the problem and could maybe help me deal with it?

Thanks.

It should be IRQL, right?

Anyway, it seems like a sound driver problem. Do you have onboard audio?

It would help more if you could post your system specs and maybe the error message. It should list a driver or driver(s) which caused the BSOD.

Check to make sure and new hardware or software is properlly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

In the problem continues, disable or remove any recently installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. Hmm, no mention of any drivers. Now it could be a memory problem... BUT, since you said it only happens when you try to start up TS, I will still say it is a sound driver problem. Can you disable your sound hardware in the Device Manager and then try opening TS to see if it gives you a BSOD? If it doesn't give you a BSOD after you do this, it's a sound driver problem. If it does give you a BSOD still, then it is beyond my reach and someone with higher knowledge will have to help you. D:

This exact same thing happens when I use Azureus (torrent client) and I'm not sure why. It doesn't do it all the time, but it's fairly consistant that if I open Azureus I'll get a very similar bsod within 5-10 minutes. I've tried reinstalling it, and made sure it wasn't a downloading issue (by downloading and uploading large files quickly via other mediums.)

The only difference it seems is that mine happens after it's been open for awhile, and his happens right when he clicks. It may be a similar issue though, any help on either front?

if it is possible i would suggest that you reinstall windows. reinstalling windows is almost the only way to get rid of the bsods

ano the AZ thing can be because of javaw.exe.... I have had problems with AZ since it uses that process....Reinstalling java worked for me.... but I don't like AZ anymore ;P I use microtorrent.
Anyways to the first poster:
Sound driver is the most likely culprit. First search online to see if someone else has the same problem then if you can't find a solution reinstall the sound driver, or if the problem persists than windows.

There are no new drivers that have no already installed on this machine.

How do I disable my audio hardware to test and see if that is the source of my problem?

Vahn, check to see if there is an available BIOS update for your computer. you can disable your audio in device manager.

I will check on the BIOS update.

I'm not the smartest person when it comes to computers, I went into the device manager but did not see an option to disable anything.

it should be pretty simple. if it's up to date, it will tell you, and it will not try and mod anything. at least give it a try. might fix things for you...

uh, NO. that's not true. i've fixed plenty of BSOD's by removing faulty hardware as well. Memory goes bad, BSOD. change incompatible memory, and it fixes it. heck, i've seen keyboards cause BSOD's!!!

My Girlfriend had this problem, it turned out to be the modem, we got a new and different modem and the problem has never returned, we did everything before this though, reinstalled windows, new motherboard, everything and nothing solved it, only replacing the modem saolved it.

I would try and get hold of another modem just to check if its that.

Did it and the BIOS was updated, but the problem is still there.

:edit:

I don't know it means anything, but when I tried to do "Test Hardware" on the "Voice" tab of Sounds and Audio Devices in the control panel, I got the same Blue Screen.

Assuming you are using Windows...

You go to Control Panel >> System >> Hardware >> Device Manager

Then go down and expand the "Sound, game, audio controller" list and disable anything in that list that you can disable. If you still get a BSOD after that, then it's not the audio and you can enable them again.

After I disabled the only thing on the list that could be disabled "Realtek AC'97 Audio" TS did in fact start up without a problem, so I would assume it is that which is causing the blue screen. If it is a matter of drivers, I scanned for any driver updates and the search returned that it could not find any drivers better suited for this hardware than what was already there.

So...where do I go from here?

Problem solved it would seem.

I reinstalled the Realtek AC97 Audio driver and TS now launches without error.

Thanks for your help.
