Default Laptop Upgrade

Ive been running guild wars for some time at a clunky frame rate on my gatway MX3230 with 256 RaM, 1.5 GHZ proccesor, UniChrome Display(crap vcard). It runs great sometimes and other times it runs like crap and the load times are FOREVER. so i was goin to buy a 512 upgrade(becuase its cheaper than a gig) but i wasnt sure if i should just gi fir a gig. Or should i forget the RAM upgrade and buy a new VCARD. I dont want to spend more than 200 though

You can't upgrade the laptop GPU.
You can, however, pop in more RAM, but the second slot may not be easily accessable. Make sure you get the right kind of SoDIMM.

Agreed. Usually the laptop has the RAM slots in a nice and easy to get to place. I mean they wouldn't put it exactly in the center of your laptop just to see you squirm (via. top secret satellite imaging). Even if you have the extra RAM though... it doesn't mean you will be able to run it faster - it by no means is a guarentee for smoother gameplay.
