Hi!

I'm brand new here, and saw that you guys had a large collection of technical issues with Guild Wars. I have one that is a little confusing, and I'm not sure what the problem could be.

The problem started at the time when Factions was released. When I was in cities and outposts, I noticed that instead of seeing some people, they would rather instead be white boxes. It wasn't everyone, just a few people in each town/outpost. I have the following system:

AMD Athlon XP 2600+ (Running at 1.917 mhz [stock not overclocked])
1 GB pc3200 DDR
Asus A7V8X-X mobo
BFG nVidia Geforce 6800GSOC AGP
Optimum Online Cable Modem ISP

Does anyone know what the problem could be? I have updated drivers for everything (as of July 22, 2006), so I'm at a loss. I have asked people who are in the game if they see the same stuff, and they don't. They assume my video card is screwed up, but I can play Half-Life 2 with everything maxed and it stays cool (below 50C), so heat isn't an issue.

Latest BETA drivers, or latest WHQL drivers? Weird stuff tends to happen with BETA drivers in Guild Wars more so than most other games.

The white box issue happens often when the user hasnt let GW download the data it needed before loading in. When an update has happened, ALWAYS let it dl all the data on the login page. If it still happens then chances are your dat files broken and need to be replaced. No big deal, just delete it and run the exe to dl a new one or use the install disks to install most.

I figured out that the problem only occurs when there are elementalists on the screen. I can see every other profession, just not primary class elementalists. I'm going to delete the dat file and see if it fixes it. I'll keep you posted.
