Default FPS problems with a medium computer

Hi there .

I recently bough a geforce 6600 GT to improve my computer's perfs . All worked fine (from halo to half life 2) except with Guild Wars . I'm playing in bad conditions , my FPS vary from ~45 to ~20 according to be in fight or in a city .

I think it's not normal regarding my whole computer config (Atlhon XP 3000+ , 768 mo ram and my geforce 6600GT (in AGP)) .

I tryed to change my drivers by 4 times , i get the last direct X version , tryed the -nosound ...But nothing improved my perfs . I changed my options to low everywhere but it did nothing .

If you know anything that can help me playing in good conditions ...

And by the way , sorry for my poor english , i'm unfortunately french .

this is an old problem....

i found a fix to a similar problem for my 6800
control panel > sound and audio devices >volume tab > speaker volume > slide hw accleration to 0

afterwhich your music sfx for guild wars will most prob be screwed over by skipping and stuff but i can live with that...

no one seems to hgave a proper fix for this problem, but i suspect this whole FPS issue boils down to having an onboard soundchip that somewhat conflicts with the gfx card or something....

i'll be getting a proper soundcard to see if this fixes the sound problem totally

hope this helps.
