I err07ed out 4 times last night. Once in Whitman's Folly, once in Port Sledge, once in our Guild Hall and once when trying to log back in. Happend from around 10:30 to 11:30 PM Pacific. It is not my computer or connection as I could surf the web while "stuck". Fortunately I got that gold chest drop even though my GW stopped responding - thank goodness I had an empty slot in my backpack.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Prior to Factions I never had a lag problem, now I can't play a day/night without lag. Don't always get 007 but there have been occations when it finally freed up and I could continue playing either my team was not showing on my compass map or I was dead.

My experience is that GW's streaming leads to fragmentation. I had a similar issue that cleared up after a simple reinstall of the game. Remove GW entirely to get a clean install.

Lagging/erroring is something different from slideshow/framing.

I dont think I'll get no more error7 after reinstall. And yes - i did disk defragmentation - after last huge update and factions release.

Cool

Hate to burst your bubble about Verison but thats nonsense! Think about it. Both Cable and POTS use copper at the core (Pole to house). If heat caused resistance bad enough to stop freq flow it would happen on the more sensitive phone lines even moreso. Your issue with cable was either node inbalance, ingress (breaks in insolation making your line an antenna for outside freq's) Cheepo Radio Shack "push on" cables or spliters or a bad modem. Some modems don't play well with some routers and get locked up as well. Heat does cause resistance but thats what amps are for! Did your TV stations E7 when it was hot?

Cable companies love getting more customers on a node but are slow to balance the load or repair unreported problems to make everything work well. Other than that if you are on aerial plant I would have tech replace your drop from the pole as the rodents prolly chewed through it exposing the shielding to ingress (they make nests out of the rubber insolation). If your underground (no telephone poles outside) I would check for rover next door digging holes and pulling up the line as dogs love to do. An easy way to see if you have ingress is to watch local stations and see if ghosting is present.(IE: chan 6 has chan 9 ghost on it) If it is, you have "open air" freq's jumping on line. This will cause major packet loss and a number of other issues not to mention bad picture on yout TV stations. HEAT MAKES THIS CONDITION WORSE! This is a free repair and they MUST do it ASAP as the FCC does yearly aerial fly by's checking for leakage and fines the companies that dont maintain a clean cable plant.

Well the hits keep commin. Tonight 2 of us venture into the underworld. After clearing the ice wastes we get to hall before dryders and get stuck on nothing....yes 3 Aatxe, 3 Grasp's the Monk and Myself just standing there unable to move.. but we can attack...mobs can't. After wanding em to death (50 screen shots flexing and dancing in front of em) we could not get the drops and had to map out.

SNIFF SNIFF NOT NETWORK ISSUE......BAD CODE! I am really doubting now that the network guys have anything to do with this. Seems new code added to game is causing mucho bugs and alot of overhead for servers. This would explain the lag issue as well as the plethora of other oddball goings on.

The Network layer is a complex thing and bad code can seem good on some systems and cause major issues on others (routers, NIC's and modems of different mfg) Either way its clear this is more than a few isolated cases.

For those of you not having issues grats. But telling someone to do "nothing" because in your expert opinion "This is how it is" is insane. I doubt if you were having the same degree of problems you would sit idle on your hands! But then again maybe you would.

BTW your theory about fragmentation holds zero water as the vast majority of data from GW is not maintained on our systems. It can make your box slower but it cant make 3 Bladed Aatxe, 3 Grasping Darkness and 2 players freeze in place but still be able to cast and attack.

Other than that I'd be willing to bet cash I have some of, if not THE tightest runnin boxes on the board. As I have been in the IT industry for over 15 years I feel I am qualified to comment on the topic.

when i first started playing GW i never had lag, just disconnects due to my net. but now GW keeps dropping me out at the worst possible moment. One time i was chest running with the last of my dollars. i had just accidently deleted a 40k hammer and was ready to quit GW forever, when a gold oni sword dropped for me. as i clicked to pick it up i was frozen and dropped back to login screen , fortunately for me another guy in group picked it up for me and what do ya know, i managed to salvage a sword pommel of fort out of it which i sold for a tidy sum lol

Its like my client and the servers are disagreeing on where my character actually is.

Anybody else experiencing this?
Yup, but i have always kinda taken it as one of GW querks. I see it as an extra layer of skill. You have to learn the maps you play on perfectly, becuase these 'displacements' usually happen in the same place.

Even worse is when it happens when you are bodyblocking, or being bodyblocked. Seems to me there is a collision detection issue, or maybe its just poor connection.

As for err=7s i dont really get as much as other people seem to get, although i do have a plethora of other problems to moan about. Of late i have been getting more err=7, more 'displacements' and generally more lag, especially associated with chat.

I am not an expert in the field, but this could be a problem not with your personal connection, or even ANETs servers, but perhaps with the company providing the line. I am not sure exactly how the route from Servers--->Your PC works, but when the entire European Servers got emptied of people becuase people err=7 when they mapped ANET blamed the failings on a company providing them the connection or something. International bandwidth providers they called them. Anyway, its possible that the lag isnt due to bad code, faulty routers or anything like that, but perhaps a third party.

Just a suggestion before people start shooting ANET before asking questions

Don't be so naive. The people working on such stuff do not work on the servers and the netcode.

im sick of this stupid error7 while GvGing it usually happens from 11pm-2am EST when the server is loaded with people....

i know error7s are faults on our end... but when vent works fine inet works smooth and 2 other teammates and I on the east coast error7 at the exact same time.. u gotta wonder if its on my end or on Anets end.. it makes me and my guild very angry while in an intense gvg someone just error7s... i mean if someone does error7 there should be some kind of detector that stops games from being rated if someone error7s

i'd like a henchman of the same class as replacement for the player that disconnected. if games where someone disconnects were unrated, you'd have people pulling the plug off their modem each time a gvg starts to look bad

if vent and internet explorer run smoothly, it doesnt mean that your connection is perfect, as both these programs can deal with a few lost packets.
