Default 3d initalize problem

i can't seem to figure out whats wrong.. i have a radeon X1600 video card with the newest updates catalyst v6.6 and for some reason when i try to play GW it goes to startup and gives me the error that i need to verify directX 8 and have an updated video driver which i have both.. and im postive the computer can handle the game
pentium D chip
1GB ram
newest Asus board

if anyone can give me any ideas i really don't feel like formating my computer just for this game b/c im not having any other problems besides that

but the wierd part is i can play the game on my dell inspiron 1100 that only has an intergrated graphics card intel 82845G on it i mean game runs choppy all the time but its something any fixes on that, that would be great to?

Install Direct X 9.0c from microsoft's website.

After that, if that doesnt work, go to your shortcut, and add -dx8

i have directX 9.0c installed already and its still giving me problems.. ur tellin me to go to what shortcut to add dx8? im not sure what that is

Right click the desktop shortcut, then change line to look like this

Prety sure theres supposed to be a space between normal path and shortcut extension (-DX8). I dont use them much myself, so I cant say for sure.
