Every time I run GW in XP, it starts with a Priority of "Low".

I can manually change this every time by opening Task Manager, but how do I start it up with a priority of "AboveNormal".

I am sure that this can be done from the shortcut, but I can't remember exactly how, and Google isn't really helping much.

A game shouldn't be your "above normal" priority at all.

It's not actually starting at low priority. It only switched to low priority because it lost focus. You can see this for yourself by selecting View | Select Columns..., then choose Base Priority as a colunm to display.

Make sure GW is running in a window. Alternately click on GW and some other app (like the Windows Task Manager window), and you'll see GW switching between regular and low priority.

BTW, you can right-click on a process and change priority, but don't do this. It's not something users should be tinkering with.

If I leave it at default, I get occasional graphic freezes (just a second or so, but really annoying).

If I set it to AboveNormal, then it clears the problem.

It's mainly down to me running Azureus and Firefox in the background.

As to Users not playing with these settings, it's never posed a problem for me before, and it only determines resource call queue position, so won't cause any issues.

The only setting that you should NEVER put on there is "RealTime", as it basically hands control of EVERY resource to that process, and it won't allow anything else to use them (including your OS).

So, back to the original question. Can anyone remember the command-line switch to run it AboveNormal from the shortcut ???

When Azureus writes to the disk you *will* get hickups no matter what you do.

You really do not want it running above normal priority, as is said the freezes are down to your processor not being up to the job of running more applications, if you insist on that, then invest in a dual core processor, that way you can set the affinity for each app to run on a specific core.

dont say you were not warned when you post back saying "My Pc crashed blah blah"
