Default Really bad performance in the Ring of Fire

I don't know why, but for some reason I have really big performance issues in the ring of fire. It always ran well in the past, now it just stopped.
I can play every mission, run around in every outpost, do any quest and the game will run smoothly. I have a constant frame rate of about 25 and usually average out at about 1500 bytes/second which should suffice even for the ring of fire.... it doesn't. For some reason as soon as I enter ember light camp I notice a sudden drop to about 200 bytes per second. The problem persists when I leave to perdition rock; as soon as I leave the ring of fire, everything goes back to normal.
I do not have a WLAN connection so it can't be a freak drop there. It's not my graphics settings because I also tried the lowest settings which didn't change a thing. I have no other program running when I play Guild Wars. The connection itself is in order because a)everything works well everywhere else in the game and b)other programs work. It's probably not a server issue because I am the only one in my guild who has this problem.
For the record, as a German I'm playing on the European Servers.

Anybody have an idea? I can't think of anything else to try.

I had the same problem as you and I think, ironically, that its a sound problem. I turned the sound quality to the minimum and it resolved the problem for me.

Thank you, that kinda helped... after I completely disabled sound. I'm up to 400 bytes/second now and the lag got a little better. Also my framerate increased to 60 or more in other areas
Very nice. Now I can play the Ring of Fire with occasional stutters, all the while thinking "Man, isn't it great to have a Dolby 5.1 system."

A.Net, what did you do with the sound?

This happened about 5/6 months ago and they fixed it. The lately they altered the sounds in-game and the problem's back.

Same here. Normally not a problem, infact I completed Hells Precipice the other day and didn't have a blip.

Today I go to try the bonus missions and can't move due to me getting about 1fps anywhere in the RoF islands. I disabled the 3D audio box, shut GW down, restarted and voila, back upto 100fps as per normal.

It's definately something to do with the 3D sound.
