Default New Techie Tool for Users

We wanted to let you know that we now have a network and graphic diagnostic tool built into GW. If you press Shift-F10, it brings up a graph window, and TAB will cycle through the various graphs that are available to users. The network graph shows how much data is being sent over the wire, and the frame time graph shows how many milliseconds it takes to draw a frame.

That might be helpful for those of a technical nature as they do some diagnostics on their systems in the event of troubles.

Hope you guys find this of help! And we should have word on a new means of getting diagnostics from the game in the very near future. It'll make everyone's life easier.

What about adding a /fps emote like Diablo II had to show the frames per second stuff & details related to that, and maybe a /debug emote for the more complex stuff? Just a thought.

Mods! STICKY!

Refyused: exists, although not as an emote. Check the threads (or guildwiki) for info on switches you can add to the game; the one you're looking for is called "-perf".

really nice, and very helpful.

*request to add this to the options/interface so we can resize, and relocate this as needed and wanted*

Big Thanks!

Isn't really that helpful. The netgraph could detail packet loss to really see when problems occur. As far as I can tell, the tool does not report fps and is mainly a simple network diagnostic with a sound graph thrown in.

I already do. Fraps is a better option for FPS measuring though.

Anyone have a screen shot yet? I'm not at home and I'd like to see the update.

I already know about the '-perf' switch. I was suggesting something that didn't require closing your game, then re-opening with the new switch in the shortcut. Something for a quick glance at how things are doing that can be turned off by typing in the same command.

There's a screen shot. I had to take off the compass and party box so you could see the legend, but other than that it's not to shabby.

True, although possibly it does?

Press TAB. It reports how long it takes to draw one frame in milliseconds (normally you'd see framerate given as frames per second, as the -perf switch does, but it's the same metric really, e.g. 100 frames/second = 10 milliseconds/frame). The really cool thing about the graph is that it allows you to see immediately the effect of e.g. turning on anti-aliasing. For me, turning on 4x anti-aliasing slowed me from 8 ms/frame (what's that, 120 fps?) to 12.5 ms/frame (80 fps), so I now have 4xAA enabled.

Sound graph? Did I miss something?

This is awesome and I've not seen a better way to be able to take a screen shot and submit info to tech support like this in the many many games I've played. Great job.

When I read this post I was really exited. I hoped for a latency graph, or something similar. Hopefully this option will be added soon.

Now if there was a resizeable version that we could stuff into corner of the screen, it could be useful more often.
