Default FPS is the problem Help

Hello.

When I play guild wars it only runs perfectly for a limited amount of time before it lags completely to the point where its unplayable. This amount of time ranges from 20 minutes - 1 hour.

Then I need to restart my machine to get Guild wars to run perfectly for another period of time before the next restart.

When I use the -perf command I see it at 20-30 frames per second when its running good. and after the period of time it jumps down to 2-6 frames per second when it slows.

Im sick of having to restart my machine to play a game a payed for and cant enjoy without constant restarts, espically when i have all the requirements for the game.

Setup:

100 mbps connection. ethernet cable
Nvidia Geforce MX 4000 video card 128mb
2.26 ghz processor
80gig HD

Any other things that i need to list please let me know.
Help is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Frankly, your video card seriously needs an upgrade. Something in your system is overheating to cause the slowdown, and that would be my guess.

either an over heat, or perhaps your ram is bad, and slowly filling up with worthless crap or something. check overheating first, by opening case, checking fans, and cleaning dust. play with a fan on your open case

Overheating. The processor is dropping in speed to avoid burning up. Follow Wrath of Dragons recommendation.

There are a few other possibilities that come to mind.

How much RAM is in your system? And if you know, what kind? If you have less then 256 megs (512 is better), it may be having to access the hard drive more often to page files, which can slow down performance. This is a problem in a game like Guild Wars, because so many files are needed by the game. And if is slower RAM (PC-100/133), this can also cause problems.

Also if you do not have enough free space on your hard drive, this can cause slowdowns. Make sure at least 20% of the drive is available, to make for speedier paging.

Lastly, do a scan for spyware. This can often suck up huge amounts of RAM.

Funny thing is i also have this problem and it only happens in guild wars however i have a x2 4400
1GB ocz ram
Nvidia 7800GT 256mb
In a P180 with great cooling (CPU @ 38c and GPU @ 50c max)
Running guild wars in linux fixes the problem so i think its driver related or a bug in guild wars its self has ive format and re-installed and tried various versions of froceware.
