Well....I'm afraid the thursday download offline thing they did, did not work for me. I think I need to quit GW and be done with it for good. I can't believe I didn't even get to play Factions. Hope you guys can get on. Later guys.

yeah, i almost called Roadrunner Tech Support because i havent been able to keep a connection to GW for more than 5 minutes....it seems to be working fine, then wasnt again....so maybe this will fix it!

I recently purchased Guildwars and have had this issue since install approximately 4 days ago. I've never even past the login screen!

I have the correct router settings (static IP and fowarded ports 6112 and 80), no firewall or antivirus currently active, and have fully updated hardwire/firmware.

Been bouncing around with tech support for five days and have come full circle with them telling me to check my ports... Also their recent hardward upgrade did nothing for me either.

I've sent them everything from Hijack logs to IP traces and their network tool log as well...

Certainly not making a very good first impression with their product.

I am getting hitched up around one of ANET's routing IPs as well, much like you guys.

I certainly hope this isn't one of those "sit and wait it out issues" with Tech support.

WoW players, Lineage2 players and many others having the exact same issue albeit with a different error number (obviously.)

Yes it would be awesome if Anet would get in contact with Ja.net and ask them to reverse this bizarre decision, but in the mean time I think a lot of people have to realise this isn't Anets fault so I don't think there is much they can do from their end to fix it.

To conclude, if you are on university networks and are having this issue, its probably Ja.net's fault, not Anets
Yeah my reply from my Network Admin was that the internet is run by Ja.net blah blah blah. I went home for easter and now Guild Wars is working, so it's the university network

Thank god WoW is still working though, I wouldn't be able to live without it!

Ranting won't make it go any faster. If they just go and release it you're still going to have to download an assload of data, you'll just be having fun sitting and watching it download at the download/splash screen so that you can actually play the game when Factions people are around. Even then, you can't just blame your errors on other people. Granted, it may not be your fault that the connection has gone screwy, but there's no reason to call ANET a bunch of losers and get pissed at everyone else, unless you just want to make things more difficult.

By the way, the Factions preview event has been over since Sunday.

To take the sting out of this reply I will say that I honestly feel sympathy for you and the frustration that you and the many other people who are unable to play Guild Wars at this time. I know that if I was in your position I would also be quite angry, especially considering the fact that I really like this game. It pains me to say it, and I'll do it candidly, but at this point it really seems that the best action you could take is just to be patient, cross your fingers, and hope that this all gets cleared up when Factions is finally released and it's had enough time for the majority of the serious bugs to get worked out. I know that it's probably not what you want to hear, but you might save yourself time that you would otherwise spend stressing out if you just waited until the Factions release date before trying to connect to Guild Wars again.

Tech support contacted me over the weekend and said that they were working on a temporary fix that would allow code=58 users to be able to log back onto the game until they were able to fix whatever was causing the problem. It didn't work for me but judgeing from the lack of posts on this thread over the weekend I'm assuming it worked for some of you? I just wanted to see if there were any other people out there for whom the fix didn't work.

So They said that they released temporary fix....

It does not work for me, despite the fact that I tried everything from the list that they posted except changing the range of IP address (it is impossible with comcast)

Anyway it looks like my login can not get through, I checked with "netstat' command and my comp sends two SYNs to the GW server but the server does not want to answer - even if the login is fake - no answer at all but on the other hand I am connected to something on port 6112 and the connection is established.

I will not buy the new one if I cannot connect ....

No were here. We're sick of the problem and are probably playing other games. Already hit 20 hours in Oblivion. See ArenaNet. Those 20 hours could of been yours.

listen i played the game around 11 am est(-5gmt) and got in fine and dandy played about an hour and a half. I come back about 10 hours later, launch the game download a "patch" and now can't get in (error=005) i suggest to everyone, don't waste your time with their ideas of "fixes", the problem has to be on anet's networks, not ours, not your isp, anet's. so go play something else for awhile, personaly, i installed freespace and have been playing it back through. still fun a game, even if its almost 10 years old.

Well pursuing it with my uni conection has hit a dead end, didn't even get any kind of answer as to wether they thought it might be part of their network or not (seems very likely for me).

"...Crucially both Ja.net and the University networks are provided for academic use. Therefore neither the university or Ja.net will support, or can be asked to support non academic usage.

As on-line gaming is a non-academic usage, it is not actively supported. Users therefore should not expect either help or support on issues relating to gaming..."

No factions for me till summer then probably. Least I have it now whilst im back at home.
