That will be more than enough. The AMD 2000+ you are getting plus the RAM will be perfect. Video card is my only real question. More graphics memory doesn't equal the best card. A model number you plan on getting would be better.

I would check around at some used computer stores in the area, and see what used Socket A Processors they may have. We do not get them in very often, but we normally sell 2.0-2.6 CPUs for around $30. This is normally a simple qupgrade, just change the chip. But first see what your motherboard is capable of supporting.

I would not go more then 512 MB RAM on a system this old. 1 Gig would be overkill, and you would not see any appreciable difference over the 512.

And I agree with the earlier comment on the model of video card. One of the best "bang for the buck" cards for a system of that age is the ATI Radeon 9550. They come with 256 MB RAM, and retail normally for around $50-60.

I agree though socket A are harder to find they are cheap.. if you're in the the UK i suggest ebuyer.co.uk, they have some Socket A's in stock.

As the 2 above posts mention Graphics Card model number is important...as many posts have been said on this the main outcome is to avoid gefore FX series

You took the words right out of my mouth tutis

As to the topic of the thread, that Pc will play GW fine, though I would try to get 1gig of RAM, you will thank youself for it in the long run

It may help if you posted what graphics card you are thinking of buying before you do so.

Well, if you're gonna keep that PC for a while, get the 1 GB of RAM. You'll use it, I promise you. I remember running 1.5 GB of RAM in the Socket A days and being king **** with my friends, mostly cause I could game better than them.

That unreleased 5950 Xtreme might have helped too. Nothing like a box over your card at LAN parties.

amd athlon 1.16ghz processor - 1.66ghz amd athlon processor <-- fine
256 mb ram - 512 or 1gig mb ram (depending on cash flow) <-- get 512+... it helps
64mb geforce graphics card - 256mb geforce graphics card <-- you don't need that much graphics power, 256 is overkill. A 128MB card can run it on high settings

Hope you have the right motherboard for it..and 7500? Sure it's not 7600, didn't think there was a 7500...I could be wrong though?

But yeah, the GeForce 7600 is a great card, and the 2.0GHz Processor is..? Also, what socket motherboard do you have? (775, A, 939, 940, etc)...

What brands the RAM by the way?
