What powersupply? You'll should have a 450W (good Brand) PSU(Powersupply) minimum for this. Both your cpu & graphic cards puts tremendous strain on your PSU.

I'm using the 66.81 drivers, only get crashes if I'm multitasking, which points to a memory leak somewhere (Guild Wars most likely).

I never had problem with the 77.72 drivers on Guildwars on any of my computers. They have and 6600 and a 4600. No other game thou would start on the computer with the 4600 card with these drivers strangelly enough.

But i changed the 77.72 to 77.77 just to be sure on the computer with the 6600 card. The other run on 71.89

hi,
Im currently having a problem with my Dual MSI NX6600GT-TD128E SLI Videocard. When i play GW on full screen for like 5 min my monitor goes to sleep mode and it wont wake up. I can still hear the game running. I cant wake up my monitor so i had to reboot it. But when i play GW on windows mode, my monitor doesnt sleep at all. It runs fine. Every other games like half life runs fine on full screen with no problems at all. No graphic problems on GW or other games. The graphics are beautiful. My guess is that this video card isnt compatible with GW.

MSI K8N NEO4 motherboard
Dual MSI NX6600GT-TD128E SLI Videocard
2, 512mb ram
450V power supply

I used to have the same problem, but I think I've discovered the cause. Every once in a while, you'll see a small yellow lightning bolt on your screen. (On mine, it appears in the upper right corner above the minimap... not sure if it always appears in that corner or moves if you move the minimap). Watch for it while you're playing, especially when entering a new area, and you should see it. I believe it means that your computer is getting additional info from the server, or something like that.

Anyway, I noticed the last time I crashed upon exiting that the yellow lightning bolt had been lit at the time, so I tested it. I exited several times when it was not lit, and had no problem at all. Then I waited till it lit up again, hit exit, and it crashed again.

Since then, I just watch to make sure that the bolt isn't there when I exit, and I haven't crashed in weeks.

Default words of wisdom

I was so desperate at one time I even resorted to updating my BIOS, a system I otherwise avoid at all costs, and eventhough my driver was 2yrs old and the software could offer a brandnew driver my comp. went bezerk. Rolled back and learned my lesson.

But, did you Clean Out your old drivers with a driver cleaner? Before you installed your newer drivers. Your computer's registry needs to be as well organized/mantained as it can be. Having older drivers and such loading up when you boot up can cause the computer to lock up at times.

This is why alot of people reformat their systems every six months. At least reformat once a year. It is the easiest way to clean up a registry by starting with a new/fresh one with the lastest drivers you need for all your components.

Agree with you, most upgrades replace everything but I've has some rare issues where leftovers really messed some things up. Downgrading drivers has a good chance of doing this.

May want to give this program a shot Driver Cleaner Pro - http://www.drivercleaner.net/ (freeware). Uninstall the from add/remove then run this program.

The only issue I've found it also wipes out *any* trace of the driver including the backed up / previous version stored (XP Pro) or the ms "default" ones if it could detect your card without installing the most current drivers.

I am using 78.01 forceware drivers and im not having issues. and I wont update unless i read something that tells me that problems in regards to GW were specifically adressed. otherwise, why bother? my other games arent in real need either.

I have a 6800 GT

I had the "Freeze" problem with the newer drivers (77.72 and up) too. I had freezes in intervals Between 10 min and 3 hours, which of course quite frustrating.
After installing 71.89 (whql version), I have been able to play 16 hours over four days with only one crash, which is ok by me.

System
AMD 3000+ 64
MSI nForce 4 Motherboard
1 GB Corsair RAM
MSI NX6600GT Graphics card

can it be that the 71.89 works for the most people?
edit# for the 6600gt - seen it not work for the geforce 5 cards.. but sometimes they did.
really would be interested in the cause for all the crashes.

i tried to get the ddo preview client running and well, in last 24 hours i tried more then 20 diffrent versions of the nvidia-drivers - for fun i tested gw on most of them and well - i get some nice memory exceptions with everything but the 71.89ers. the newer nvidia drivers are utter crap for my system.

/rerolling drivers YET AGAIN

btw: ddo client crashed with everything - lost too much time by now to catch up with my stresstest-progress (which ran just fine)

specs:
barton 2.2 (@11x200mhz)
2x512 mb corsair ddrram (@200mhz)
asus n8xe D nforce 2u 400
leadtek winfast 6600gt agp

------------------------
gw is finally working again!
the 81.89 drivers are working now. no clue why, but who am i? every other driver was crashing right after i logged into one of my chars. what i did: i completely wiped all nvidia drivers from my system drive and then cleared all my cab-files as well (driver cleaner be praised) -- back from safe mode i installed the 81.89ers, restarted and it worked again.
(strangely only gw was crashing when active rendering started, and i did this "driver-cleaning-process" when i tried the other 20 versions. ah well, the only thing that matters: gw is working again ^^)

I have the same problem, but I get a blue screen for about a second before the reboot. However, I'm almost completely unintelligable in the realm of drivers, so I have no idea how to fix it. These are the specs of my current PC copied from dxdiag and any small information i recall; (I know that much! ) If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it!

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+
2 GB corsair RAM
200GB Hard Drive
NVidia GeForce 7800 GTX

I saw someone mention display settings, so... I'm running at 1280 x 1024 (32 bit). And the driver info reads:
Main Driver: nv4_disp.dll
Version: 6.14.0010.7772 (English).

I hope that's enough info... Thanks to everyone for their help!

Just wanted to report my experience. I used to run the 77.72 drivers and would crash on exit just like many other people here. I installed the 81.98 drivers just over a week ago and have yet to experience a crash yet... or any problems, for that matter. Just thought I'd share and hope it helps.
