ok I have got a compaq presario sr1102bd and all i got is on borad graphics and I have onlygot pci slots. What is a good card to get ?

With PCI slots you are very limited now, as this medium is very old now, but saying that there are a few cards that are still being made, link below.

To be honest, you got screwed.

The "low end" computers all tend to have one thing in common: lack of AGP or PCIe slots. And that is done on purpose. It encourages you to either buy the higher-ended models, or to buy another computer as quickly as possible.

Even if you got a better video card, you will not get the performance that you would want. This is because of the limitation of the PCI slot. It simply can't handle the amount of data that the video cards can handle.

I would recommend sticking to something older, like a Radeon 9250 or GeForce 4 card. It is true that they make NVidia 6200 and Radeon x550 cards in PCI, but it would be a waste of money. You would still have to turn the graphics way down to prevent lag.

If you have a local computer store (mom & pop - not big box), go in and ask if they have anything used. We sell cards like that used that we sell for around $30.

Ok I done a serch on the radeon 9250 on new egg i jsut got one problem which on is good on here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...&Go.x=0&Go.y=0

i'm in the same boat... except i got a fairly high-end computer with a crappy motherboard.

try these cards:

BGH Geforce FX5500 OC PCI with 256mb
Jupiter Digital Geforce FX5500 PCI with 256mb

the BGH is more expensive, but noticeably better. i only tried it for about two weeks before switching to the crappier (and cheaper) Jupiter Digital, but i could watch observer mode with everything turned up with fairly good FPS.

I tend to recommend more "buget line" cards when dealing with PCI. The problem is that you run into "bus crunch" with the higher ended cards. PCI simply can't handle the amount of detail that the card is capable of producing.

And his model also has a 2.5 GHz Celeron processor. That in and of itself is quite a dog. 533 MHz Front-side bus, 1 gig MAXIMUM of DDR Ram, and unless he has upgraded it will have 256 MB of DDR2700, with a 40 GB PATA hard drive, spinning at 5200 RPM.

When you add all that up, the result will be really bad performance out of any higher-level video card. The sr1102bd was a "budget line" Compaq system when it came out almost 2.5 years ago, and it has not aged well at all.

Before I would ever recommend taking a system this low up to anything like the FX5500+, I would recommend moving to a newer motherboard with either PCIe or AGP.
