it's my first time playing gw again, and i was wondering, the download is over 11,000 files and I'm at 50MB but only 1% downloaded, is this supposed to be that way, and will I need to wait this long every time?

If your dl the client from the website probably about 10-15 minutes depending on your connection, because your are downloading probably all 3 games now. If you use the discs you're looking at slightly quicker cause its just the one game, but then whenyou connect you'll hit all the updates anyway so it can take a quite few mins

Also if you want to format/do something that will delete gw, back up gw.exe and the .dat file then you wont have to download as much next time if anything at all.

well, it's been about half an hour, I have a good internet connection, and it's only at 25%

Yes, that's perfectly normal right now. ^_^

With the upcoming release of Nightfall, Anet has released a lot of data for that campaign, which is pre-streamed to your client now. The total size of the update is something like 400MB. You will not have to download all of it right now, though, most of it will be streamed silently in the background without you even noticing.

It won't take that long every time. Once you have downloaded all that, it'll be back to normal, until the release of the next campaign.

on 56k here, definately not looking forward to the next campaign. im using the -image extention to try and slove a problem im having and it says 27000 files remaining.

I just set up the -image thing... so next time I open gw, I'll be happy.
