Hah, I wish I had my camera phone last summer at work. I was going around dusting out computers, and came across an 8 year old classroom PC that had never been dusted in its life. It was saturated in dust.

Good god! How long since you last cleaned it out? Or do you by any chance have your computer room in a dust factory of some description.

Definately a case for a can or two (or three) of compressed air. I know others have said differently, but if you hover a vacuum cleaner pipe about 1ft over the PC when you blast it with the air it should be just fine. That'll stop the dust from re-settling back into the PC.

Also, a sable hair watercolour brush is useful to dislodge all the clumped together crap inside the fans and heatsink so the air can shift it easier.

Nothing to unusual there. I have seen many systems that are much worse then that. In fact, I had one this morning that took me 5 minutes to clean out. And that was with a high-pressure professional garage air system.

Just clean it out more frequently, and check out the CPU fan. If it sounds funny (or runs slower then it should), replace the CPU cooler. That much dust sometimes damages the bearings.

If you want to keep it running good, here are a few suggestions. It looks like that back opening is either 80 or 90mm. Put in an fan blowing out. Installing a $10 fan will greatly extend the lifespan.

And if that is the original power supply, replace it. Most of those units came with a 250-300 watt power supply. AMD itself recommended 350 watts minimum. Installing a 350-400 watt supply will cost you around $30, and once again greatly expand the lifespan. Most of those systems that I have seen come in dead died because of power supply failure.

Looks pretty clean compared to most of what I've seen.

well the normal stuff i see there you do know that computers need dusting like everything else in your house and they don't clean themselfs and for some reason dust really likes computers it seems to attract to them like magnets to steel
