Default Performance Boost

After getting fed up with somewhat slow loads and minor lag (a lot of missed steps) i've been getting in the major cities, I decided to explore and try some new things. After fiddling around, I think that I finally found a way to at least somewhat solve my problem. If you go to properties after right clicking "my computer", click on advanced, click on the first settings button from the top, and then go to the advanced tab, there are two options: "adjust for best performance of programs vs background processes" and "adjust for best performance of programs vs system cache". Choose the latter in both cases.

In general, this makes everything seem smoother. Also, load times in cities are noticably reduced. Even the startup time of my computer is reduced. Programs like firefox and ms word start up at about the same speed, and i'm not exactly sure why windows makes programs the default in these cases.

Notes: I've noticed that this uses up more ram in GW than the normal conditions. But, if you can run it with a lot to spare(1 gig+), then this might work for you. I also can't say that this will work in any other game, only that doom 3 seems to be working the same for me. Finally, this actually increases the load times when you first start up the game. However, after that anywhere you travel to seems to have reduced load times and runs smoother.
