Default Problems Upgrading Graphics Controller

I just recently got GW Prophecies, and I started playing. All was fine, until my computer suddenly restarted itself. I looked more into it and I found out that my Graphics Controller was outdated (VERY).

I go and download the newer version, but whenever I try to install it, a window keeps popping up telling me to "Go to your Control Panel and install it from there" or something similiar to that. I was just wondering if I did something wrong, or downloaded the wrong thing.

By the way, my computer DOES meet all the Recommended System Specs (aside from my Graphics Controller). Also, I'm currently stuck using an Intel(R) 82845G, while I'm supposed to upgrade to Intel(R) 82915G.

did you download from there?
You'll get barely playable performance from the 845G as its on-board. I used to have it on Celly 2.4ghz 256ram and 845G @ 640x480 lucky to get 13-15fps, though when I had it I never had any random restarts on GW, so It could be your PSU.
Also if you do upgrade your Graphics dont go to a 915G get a dedicated graphics card if you have an AGP slot, a radeon 9550 will play it nicely.

Thing is that I don't care a LOT about how good the graphics are at this point. All I want is to be able to play without having to restart my computer over and over again.

YOu need to get a dedicated Graphics Card. You may not care how they look, but in order to play they have to meet a certain minnimum. And the on-board that you have does not meet it.

I am very familiar with that graphics, a lot of older Dell OptiPlex units have it. It is so low, it will not even play Halo.

GW is very good actually about playing somewhat on below-spec cards. But when you do play below spec, you end up with a lot of freezes, crashes, and restarts. Upgrade your graphics to a Radeon 8500 or higher, and you should be just fine.

There's your problem! Your PC doesn't meet the minimum specs as quoted on the back of the game box. Get yourself a dedicated graphics card and you'll be amazed at the difference. Post what interface your motherboard has and then we can advise you on what to get within your price range.
